I'm no expert ...but i'll tell you what i've heard from elders etc...:)

coconut oil is best for hair .....bu i do use mustard oil most of times ...n for me its ok ...:)

my mother in law always insists on putting oil for at least a day or so ....but in my experience ...oily hair get more dirty than dry ....so i don't keep it that long ....however when i'm in pakistan ....my MIL massages oil in my hair in evening ,...n i keep it for overnight n wash it next morning :)

i dunno about hot oil treatment ...lets see if someone tells us :)

n i'm too lazy to put egg etc. in my head .....the most i can do is washing my hair with henna or rethay aamlay ...n that too is like twice an year or so ....so for me oil is the best treatment :)

n i do oil my hair at least twice a week ,.....sometimes even more :)

one of my aunts has beautiful hair, and what she does is mix two parts of coconut oil with 1 part olive oil and 1 part Vitamin E oil.

my mom used to rub warm oil in my head sometimes, and oh, it is soooo relaxing, i’d  like a baby after my hot oil massage. but i don’t know if it is the same as what u are asking :konfused:

coconut oil is great .But try baby oil, might sound silly ,but baby oil has ingredients that r good for sensitive skin and all.It doesnt have harmful chemicals etc.I use it,and it makes hair look great.Use it an hour before showering.I mean u can even use a bit and leave it in ur hair,it doesnt smell bad or anything.

i use johnsons baby oil for my hair, i think i get good shiny hair after i have finished massaging + the hair style looks kinda nice

1) i like amla oil..coconut never suited me.

2) actually from my readings i learnt that its better if you put hot oil for a shorter time..and one article said that it should be for few minutes only..that article i remember also that kay when you put oil..it clogs the pores and the dust and residue sits there..so its better to apply for a shorter period of time.

3) hot oil treatments can be the one from the market..like vo5 etc..or some people just use a carrier oil and mix a few drop of aromatherapy oil and heat them up and massage their heads with it. If you haven't used the hot oil treatments..i would recommend them..coz i have used them personally..all you have to do is put the oil tube in a mug of warm water for few minutes..and rub them into hairs for a minute or two and just do your regular shampooing procedure..hot oils can have different benefits..they are available for dry/damaged hair..then there's hot oil treatment for shining and also for split ends..also there's some out there for strength of the hair..they do work great..and are convenient as well :-)

4) you can use them once a week..once a month..or depends on your needs.

5) are you asking to use oil alone or with combo of yogurt egg and oil? i personally think that every ingredient will have benefit..so why not combine them all..once a long time back..i was bored..so what i did..i mixed 1 tbsp yogurt, 1 tsp lemon juice, one tsp of henna, 1 tbsp amla oil, and 1/2 tsp of sugar (sugar is supposed to be good for dandruff..i read somewhere)...and i remember..my hair looked great with that experiment..hehe..i can't recall if i did put egg white in it or not.

feel free to ask..if you have any more questions fanta :)

Qrius could you tell me where to buy the amla oil?
My hair are falling terribly and have stopped growing since last year i colored my hair… and its full of dandruff :crying: its just freaking me out. I try my best to use oil once a week but its not helping so much right now. I have seen some green botteled bio amla oil stuff in desi stores …do u think they are safe to use or better then sarson ka tail which i am using right now?

Thank you all for your replies :flower1:

See I want to grow my hair but right now they keep falling and are really thin. I put the mixture of egg, oil and yougart in them but no use :crying: ub what should i do? :hoonh:

Qrius can you name a few hot oil treatment thingies because I have never seen any here. It might be easier to find them if i know their names.

But someone tell me how to grow hair :crying:

waisey I was thinking hot oil treatment means you heat up the oil till its warm u put it in your hair and then you put a wet hot towel on top and leave it for sometime :hehe:

fanta if u wana if u wanna grow more hair y not use fertaliser :D heard ona urea does the trick ;)

Castrol.

Jal_Pari, for dandruff the sure treatment is a spoonful of mayonnaise. but don’t be like my friend Abid… he was so anxious to get rid of his dandruff that he left it on his hair til he saw me in school the next day… it seems that i had forgotten to tell him how long to keep it on :hehe: that is one of the funniest things i had ever witnessed :rotfl: what a nutcase :hehe:

i shop in Patel grocery stores and they have Dabur Vatika hair oil… it has amla and henna and some other stuff, i like it.

fanta, i too thought that hot oil treatment means heat the oil in teh microwave for 20 seconds or until hot :hehe:

jal_pari, my mom says karipatta is really good for the hair, so make sure u eat lots of it, and maybe mix it with henna and put it on ur hair. i have heard lemon juice adds shine to the hair… but yoghurt??? ugh. and i used egg once. it smelled so bad no one would sit near me… and i wanted to get as far away from my head as possible too :bummer: so no more eggsperiments for me..

1) olive oil- thickens your hair,
mustard oil
castor oil- just put this on, on the tips of ur hair to make ur hair shiny

2) theres no point in leaving it on over night or a few hours as it only actually works for half an hour so max leave it on 30 mins before washing ur hair.

3) not too sure abt that one....

4) not too sure again....

5) mising yoghurt and oil makes ur hair soft, mixing mustard oil and youghurt makes it soft and shiny, and simple oil just adds shine too and is generally good for ur hair. I think they are all as good as each other!

larki oil type depends on your hair ..I always heard coconut oil makes your hair shinier and warm olive oil can help you to get rid of split ends. Oil your hair atleast twice a week,,, brush your hair for 10 to 15 minutes after putting oil in order to distribute the oil over and down to the end of the hair.... do not apply too much oil to your hair because it will make your scalp and hair sticky which will in turn make your hair dirty very soon.

*Jal_Pari * , actually my ammi is using dabar amla oil from desi stores..its actually indian..but really good..coz i often put that on her..and i have used it too..its not really sticky..comes off easily. I even use that in different recipes of hair care. But my preference always is treatments from the market..i like alberto vo5 coz its quick and you don't have to put oil for a longer time. Also, i have read a survey in a magazine..and it was reader's choice..they listed fructis hair treatment as the best one..i have used fructis products before so i am gonna try that one too :-) I remember i read somewhere..that if you take supplements..zinc and biotin are good for hairs.

** fanta: ** Queen Helene, Alberto VO5 and Suave and St. Ives produces hot oil treatment..i am not sure if any of those are available or not..and if they are..i think they'll be expensive..so i am gonna list some recipes to make your own hot oils..coz you can go a tayli (people who make oils) and get pure oils.

** Hair Treatments, hair growth and dandruff control recipes for fanta and jal_pari **

"Hot Oil Treatment"

This makes a good conditioner for dry scalp and hair, and all the ingredients add gloss and shine to the hair.

1/2-cup (118 ml) sweet almond oil

1/4-cup (59 ml) apricot kernel oil

1/4-cup (59 ml) olive oil

Mix all the ingredients together. Shampoo your hair and towel it dry. Warm the oil mixture in the microwave or on the stove top until it reaches 95° F (35°C). Then apply the mixture in small amounts and comb it through your hair, using your fingers to work it into the scalp. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap or plastic wrap and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can apply the oil mixture at room temperature and sit under a hair dryer for 15 to 20 minutes to activate the treatment. Afterward, cleanse your hair well with a gentle shampoo. Shelf life is approximately 1 year.

5) Is it better to put only oil in your hair or is it better to mix yougart and egg?

yes it is good to mix yoghurt and egg. for better results add mirchi, haldi, ginger, garlic and a pinch of salt.. now proceed to faisal's "bbq" thread for more information.

Coconut oil is the best when left on hair throughout the day. Part hair from the side, making sure there is a crisp "cheer". Now, put some surma in those twinkling eyes with "bunda". Mashallah all we now need is a "kaala teeka" on the left cheek.

Thankssssssssss so much Qrius for such helpful tips....i am definately gonna get that amla oil from desi store. I also want to try that hair regrowth recipe.....but not sure where i would get vitamin e oil and peppermint oil...the rest i think i can get from few stores. Let me know if you have any idea about that. And ur right about the supplements...i used to take daily minerals & vitamins...since i stopped it last year it did affect my skin and hair a bit.
Phoenix thanks for the tips...hehe i know how it is with eggs....i used it few times in pak for dandruff..its just awful :(

Believe it or not but Kareem is right...Castor Oil is one of the best for really really think hair...in fact if you got thinning eyebrows thats the best darn thing...

It's recommended even for guys who fail to accquire an "even" beard or moustache

:)
