I get what you mean, but why does B ask A to get some dollars from C. Why can’t A pay in its own currency or that of B? Looks like they don’t have any confidence in each other’s currencies but they do in C’s.

Also, printing a lot of dollars is a bad idea for C. They might benefit in the short run, but in the long run they will be out on their asses.

The dollar used to be backed by gold, until 40 years ago when they realised they had more dollars then gold, and could not pay in gold for all the dollars they had printed to finance their war machine. Now it is just a piece of paper. They reason it is still used is because it is in the US national interest and the US is a sole superpower. Might is right.
