Yeah but if ther’es the doubt, then how is the sin on ur shoulders?? I always thought it was better to give them the money, give them the benefit of the doubt, coz even “legitimate” charities, u never know, may use ur moneys for haram things…

I don't know about your state, but here, by looking at their drunk faces and the way they talk and walk, their eyes, their clothes etc, I doubt if they won't go buy a beer. Sometimes you can just tell. And if you are in doubt, it's better not to do something, in my opinion. Ofcourse everyone is different. Some people say the glass is half empty while some say it's half full.

Well, here, there’s a lot of Muslims/desis begging. If you go to Jackson Heights, most of the beggars are women with children. There’s also this one guy, daari, topee, etc, he’s carrying around a bag and has a blown up photograph of his daughter after she’d had acid thrown on her face and body…and then there’s the ppl on the train, they’ll come to ask for money to eat coz tey’re pregnant or say “im trying to get a job, but im hungry” etc…
