gs is divided into 2 categories. half are butt-kissing weirdos (who are ultimately "awarded" modship) and the other half are rebels who are the actual smart ones here--(these are the ones who are sent warnings, are banned or bashed by the butt-kissing mods). people, even mods open double meaning, indirect threads to bash each other. it os so obvious, its annoying. people need to get a life. seriously.

But you keep avoiding my questions....the more I try to keep it focused and to the point the more you talk about concepts, etc. rather than facts that you can legitimize.

The re-design that you are referring to is not a "rethink, redo". It is growth. It is responsiveness to the community. As we pick new members of the community to lead (i.e. moderators and directors) we give them the opportunity to decide where the site will go. We provide them an opportunity to try new ideas, implement what they think will be popular. (btw, tell me about another forum that let's you do THAT.) In this process there is change, disagreement and fall-out. These are facts of life and inevitable. I keep referring to staying power and that is what I mean....we go through turmoil and come out better each time.

I don't know what makes you think that we have or are trying to address a problem. That simply is not the case. If you have seen an initiative that has not been launched or has been abandoned 99% of the time it is the fault of the board, not the admin team at all.

I was trying to avoid getting to this but you will have to bring something other than 11 or 12 anonymous forums to the table to prove your expertise. Let's talk in terms of industry specific and recognized qualifications.....willing to put those on the table for comparison to the board's?

If you truly want to help then join the team. If you can't spare the time then at least engage in constructive criticism and make some suggestions rather than what you have been doing in this exchange.

Here is what I have taken on board so far:
- you don't think there should be so much moderation;
- you believe that the Admin team should take a more polite and unbiased approach in their moderation technique;
- you believe that all structure in the team should be abolished;
- ??
- ????
- ??????

I'm sure there is much I can learn but it appears that all those that purport to know more than I do are unable to share their knowledge.

There is nothing defensive about my response. If there was I would be addressing the cheap shots that have been launched. I'm not doing that. Maybe I'm the only one that feels there might be something out there that I do not know......

This is typical of anytime that change occurs.....there are always conspiracy theorists that find it convenient and self-serving to live in such beliefs rather than either wait for results or contribute to a positive change.

if GS and this change at GS are not such a big deal, why're you still here sounding off about it? clearly if we're all fans of ourselves, as you say, then
a) we won't be convinced by your logic (or lack thereof depending on perspective), and
b) we'll survive even if/after you leave, should you choose to do so

maybe you should be the "bigger person" here and move on! there's plenty of other threads to fiddle with and comment on all over GS and the rest of the interweb.

essentially, everyone needs to understand that changes have been made, they're not going to be reversed, and every little reason behind every little change doesn't need to be approved by everyone. and if that was the case, nothing would ever get done around here! and no amount of arguing using different multinicks is going to change that.
so either you accept the new GS for what it is and do your best to make it work right along with us, or you don't and good luck wherever you go- your choice. but endless conversations repeating the same points over and over aren't going to accomplish jack****.

Yes, if you take only the text that you have selectively copied and pasted then one might be led to believe that there is something wrong here.....but if put it all in context, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the priorities that TLK has assigned.

This post from TLK was answering a question that asked him why he had not chosen a specific person specialising in the area relating to the section they were being assigned (e.g. why not select a doctor to moderate the heath forum)?

What TLK is saying here is that to accomplish what the board has asked him to do in the coming months he needed to build a team in which other factors were more important than "qualification" in the related area.

In fact he placed things like loyalty, trust etc all above qualification.

What is wrong with that?
Is that really so difficult to understand?

Listen......are we skirting the real issue here?
Do you have issues with our choice of mods, cms and director?
Do you feel that you should be a part of this team and were overlooked?

I mean seriously, what is the point here?
