There’s been another baby born to the McLaren MP4-12C family, this one called the 12C Sprint GT. Another track-only version of the road-going coupe, it doesn’t go as far as the 12C GT3 and 12C GT Can-Am Edition racers, but it’s a few steps beyond the daily driver by sitting 40 millimeters lower, wearing Pirelli slicks and sporting a more robust cooling and aerodynamics packages.
There are 616 horses available from the turbocharged 3.8-liter V8, tamed for apex duty with specifically tuned systems like ProActive Chassis Control, Brake Steer and the McLaren Airbrake, as well as three handling modes. Race-day include a new front bumper and cooling ducts, on-board air-jack, 19-inch center-locking OZ wheels and a roll cage and fire extinguisher system.
The public will get to meet the 12C Sprint GT at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. An initial allotment of 20 will be provided for owners something “below GBP £200,000,” ($298,701 US) plus taxes and fees.
