With the influx of all the new products from Chevrolet this year, Callaway has its hands full trying to keep up. As much as we hope the Callaway Corvette Aerowagon becomes a reality, there’s a big soft spot in our hearts for go-fast sedans that’s eagerly anticipating the tuner’s latest creation, the Callaway SS.
After going to work on the 2014 Chevy SS, Callaway is hoping to get an estimated 570 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque from the sedan’s 6.2-liter LS3 V8. That added power, Callaway says, should be enough to shoot from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and tackle the quarter-mile in around 12.4 seconds. The stock LS3, if you’re wondering, produces 415 horses and as many pound-feet of twist, so both figures represent very healthy bumps.
The tuning will consist of an Eaton supercharger with intercooler, a freer-flowing exhaust system and an upgraded intake and injectors. The provided image above is simply an altered press photo from Chevy, but we hope that this meaner SS will bring meaner styling.
There is no word on pricing for this Callaway-tuned SS, but we would expect it to start even higher than a factory-tuned high-performance version of the car, which is still a possibility.
