How can you deal with it? It’s so frustrating to see a couple of morons as the boss’s favourite who think they own the place.
What kind of reaction would be the best to a situation where you are being treated unfairly by a jerk of a boss?
Man, i’m so pissed off these days…

I'm not good at ass kissing
Sure you are.
Are you good at getting fired?

Now I know why you come to GS.

…so true.
Office politics are prevalent everywhere, don’t think you’re the only one facing issues in the workplace. I hate to do this but I will agree with Matsui on this one. Act sweet as maple syrup to the boss and his cronies and try to join the circle. If you can’t beat 'em, join 'em. After all, what would you prefer at the end of the day…a job or no job? (considering the current job market) Also, don’t kid yourself…no one is above being fired. That kind of arrogance will get you in hot water one day if you’re not careful.
^ Whatever happened to self-respect?
Anyway, this is not a professional job - just an on-campus thing.
I kind of agree that you have to play your cards right but there's limit to where you can take crap from others - especially since you've been doing your work right.
I do agree that I have some arrogance. I guess I should work on that.
Ok cool :)

What you're describing here, Hum Sa, pretty much sums up the combined experiences of everyone who's ever worked in an office. Office politics is the way of the world unfortunately, and if you haven't got into a professional job, be prepare.
It's difficult to know exactly how to handle it, but I'd advise maintaining professionalism at all times, however tempting it is to give them a piece of your mind. Take comfort from knowing that bosses come and go (with alarming rapidity these days), and that the two aforementioned morons won't be anyone's favorite for any length of time.
In my experience, there is a kind of natural justice to be found in offices, and, over time, the bad eggs do get rooted out, and get what's coming to them.
Then, you can smirk...

Best way to deal with it is to carry on woking hard and ignore the politics. At the same time, try to keep your profile high within the office- that is important and it can be maintained without ass kissing. The boss will move on one day- then the "morons" will have to start again whereas you will be able to maintain your position.
From the boss's perspective, it is actually very hard to know someone is kissing butt !! I used to be very good at noticing blatant and subtle ass kissing a few years back, but now that I am the boss, I can still pick up the blatant "in your face" attempts but I miss the more subtle approach (until I am told by some of my close friends). It is basically because you become detached from the crowd and only make observations from your meetings a few times a week. So your impression is generated from those meetings. To come across well infront of your boss is a very important skill and is not same as ass kissing.

Yep. Get your own business. Screw the corporate world. Sure its more work and more risk but its zero politics and no ass kissing whatsoever.
I can never imagine myself working in an office stuck in a cubicle all day long. I dont want my timesheet to tell me when i should take my lunch. I'd rather have my tummy tell me that :-D
Well in this case there are usually two possibilities. Either kiss ass or get fired. However there is a third possiblity. But in order to apply that you must be very very good at it. It's called blackmail. Everyone has a weak point, not just one but many. You just have to find it. This is dangerous but it's very effective if it works out.
Hum sa ho, as you said you're good at what you do so all you have to do is give them an I don't give a **** attitude and concentrate on your work. Those ass kissing freaks will always kiss ass because that's their nature. You are better than them so be cool.
