I have been watching “Office Office” for only a year, and I consider it the best desi comedy show ever made.
It beats Family Front, and other comedies, because Office Office does not have that cheezy type of ‘desi’ comedy.
Originally being aired on SABE TV in India, it’s transfered to North America via TV Asia on Dishnetwork.
Office Office deals with how a common man copes with the bureaucratic system. The show shows us how corruption happens so easily, and how nothing can be done without giving rishwat/deeds for the well being. You see banks, police, universities, hospitals, old folks homes, lawyers, MP’s, fishing industry, insurance, and the list goes on. The show has been running from April 2000, and still makes two new episodes every week, currently 200+ episodes. Each show runs for only 30min, with a focus on one of the job sectors in India.
It stars the main character, Mussadilal, who touches the heart of the common man because Mussadilal reminds us of ‘our’ own struggle in the walk of life. It makes you laugh at ‘our’ own failure and the failure of ‘our’ system. Poor Mussadilal never wins, showing how corruption runs the Sub-Continent.
If I’m not mistaken, Office Office has won the Best Comedy Serial award, two or three times in a row?
You guys should watch it, because all the shows on tv seem to be drama’s and how long can you guys go without laughter? Unfortunately desi comedies are not to the standard as in North America, but Office Office is obviously number one in India.
