office lunch help

all married girls if u give lunch tifin to your husband what u give him( salan k elava )..my husband don’t wana take salan with him and else I don’t know wat to give him and he cant please advise me

Re: office lunch help

Pasta
Rice
Sandwiches/Wraps (shawarmas, gyros, tuna salad, club, fajitas, chapli, shami, desi fish kabab rolled in parathas)

I always wrap my “wraps” in wax paper, slice them in two & then pack them. Also if you are anything like me & pack the lunch the night before then add less sauce in the sandwich/wrap so it doesn’t get soggy overnight & just give him some sauce on the side.

Baked/Grilled chicken breast or fish with sides & salad.

Re: office lunch help

give him $10 to buy his lunch at the cafeteria.

Re: office lunch help

I second that when I am out of ideas or supplies i make him grill cheese sandwich with some veggies :), I always give him 1-2 fruits everyday.

Re: office lunch help

wow - where do you guys live? i didn’t know that people still did that…we both just buy our lunches at work…and my husband has sometimes made me sandwiches

Re: office lunch help

thats great

Re: office lunch help

on sunday night, i stir fry lots of veggies and cook some chicken and use that throughout the week to make my lunches.. i usually either make a sandwich or add some rice from leftovers

Re: office lunch help

I don’t think it has anything to do with where you live. It’s about your husband’s preference. As a woman Islamically speaking your primary role is to prepare the food while hubby provides it - but as long as you both agree, overlap and even role swapping is fine.

My husband doesn’t like eating out as he finds it too heavy and unhealthy, so I make homemade lunch. Other than salan, rice dishes like biryani or paella, and pasta dishes like tuna pasta bake or lasagna are a good option. When making kebabs I make extra and then put them in a sandwich. For the ultimate quick fix I make meetha anda in a roll it never fails. Whenever I make dinner and have leftovers I box them up and freeze them and take them out for his lunch whenever needed.

Re: office lunch help

meetha anda? egg with sugar?? ive heard of it but never had it! how does it taste?

Re: office lunch help

Exactly!!! Not only is eating lunch out at a restaraunt/fast food joint everyday unhealthy, it’s expensive! It can easily add to $40 or more a week to buy lunch everyday.

I usually pack my husband leftovers from dinner, or I make him a sandwich too while I make the kids’ lunches. I do big batches of chicken salad or egg salad for sandwiches, or try to keep pita bread and hummus on hand always. Sometimes he’ll just take some fruit and yogurt for a light lunch, as we eat dinner pretty early anyway, around 6:30 pm.

Get those lunch containers that have portions already made. You can just fill in.

Stir fry with veggies
Shami
Parathay rolls with stuffing
Chicken salad
Tuna salad
Veggie salad
Grilled chicken breasts
Fried fish

Endless possibilities

Any ideas on what to pack that is handy to eat and doesn’t require reheating.
I usually do different kind of sandwiches but want to try new stuff.
Hubby eats leftover dinner cold. He wants stuff that he can pull out and eat at his desk. But sandwiches don’t fill him up too good. Comes home starving …

Re: office lunch help

Paratha roll
tuna salad or any cold pasta salad
Salty pancakes

Re: office lunch help

it has nothing to do with where u live, I used to do it when we both worked and I do it now when I dont. It is about personal preference and takes bit of work, getting used to and organization. I didnt do it first couple of years after our shadi, then I started. I have also been making breakfast for the family for the last 3-4 years, my hubby hated the idea of eating breakfast in the morning and now he is used to it.
Homemade food is healthier and cleaner, we want our son to learn how to cook from scratch and eat properly too. My husband still eats out atleast once a week.

And to answer your question we live in north america.

Re: office lunch help

Its a problem of mine to a greater extent. My Husband is a doctor and usually does not find time that he goes to the eating arae and warm up food, so I only usually give him sandwiches. And thats too very same kind of Shami kababs, omelette, egg and chicken sandwich. Sometimes kabab in croissant to change monotony. Sometimes he takes pasta. I was thinking to ask him now to take chana chat sometimes with him too

Re: office lunch help

today I gave my hubby leftover daal to be eaten like soup. He loves to eat daal with small pita pcs in it(like croutons) so I crisped up a pita after it cooled down broke it into pcs, put it in a ziploc. gave him daal in glasslock container he will put pita pcs in daal when it is time to eat. For breakfast we had pancakes today. He made the batter and I made the PCs. my son took pancakes for lunch too bc he said he want to eats pc for breakfast, lunch and dinner today :smack:

Re: office lunch help

Cold pasta salad
Chicken salads
You can also give him chanay ki chaat and give him crispy stuff to add in when he wants to

Re: office lunch help

today’s lunch was allo paratha, my friends were over for breakfast for allo paratha, so I made hubby and son aloo paratha for lunch..

Re: office lunch help

Lol that’s what my gora friends would say when I’d bring it to school as a kid lol. It’s lovely - you should totally try it! Beat an egg, add a splash of milk and two teaspoons of sugar, beat well and fry like an omlette. Yummyyyyy :yummy:

Re: office lunch help

I am interning these days and so far here is what I have brought from home for lunch. Shaami kebab sandwich, chicken and pepper sandwich, egg sandwich, fish curry and bhindi and roti (was a lil conscious to eat it but no one was around), biryani, tuna sandwich. Cant remember what else… but yeah simple stuff like that.
