i know a certain amount of professionalism has to be maintained but if there was a handsome coworker or female coworker that’s drop dead gorgeous how do you not totally get distracted or fall a bit for the person?

Remember how the world cup champs i.e. Spain lost their very first game because one of the most beautiful women on the planet from Spain, a reporter from the country who was also the goalie's gf was on the sidelines of the field? Everyone blamed her for being a huge distraction for the players during the game (their work place)... It's true, its true... If you want to be productive at work, and want to excel, make sure there aren't any stunningly pretty women around you at your work place!

i'm in a field where it's totally male dominated, computer networking and god there seems to be only hot muscular guys in this field,including the desi ones, it sucks or atleast those ones that are hot looking are all around me it seems :((
daydreaming is one of my weakness, i always get a visual of something in my mind when i see a handsome guy.....................what do guys do when they see a beautiful coworker? what do you tell yourself?

I'm just kidding...but it's not such a bad thought is it? What else can anyone here advise other than maintaining a professional attitude, which would include not starting an affair at work? As the saying goes, "Don't dip your pen in company ink." The workplace is a competitive environment...better to keep emotional drama out of it...plus you see your coworker every day....u know how people like to talk....and they're smart enough to pick up on interest you may have in a fellow coworker....it can get messy.
Maybe if you worked somewhere else...getting to know a former coworker better would be easier to deal with. A lot more exciting ....trying to find someone you'd be compatible with.....than being engaged to that toxic fiance of yours. I hope things get better...because it's still much easier...now...to get out of this one.

Well office sex is very common the field. Thankfully I sleep like the dead. But its normal for the guys to sleep with a random different chick in the international community every Thursday night. Then on Monday or Tuesday they are back to working in meetings and stuff.

Btw at office dinners I have seen a lot of executives hitting on young and pretty juniors . They always make sure they don't cross the line that it becomes sexual harassment , but I hope you know what I mean .

It's hard to have crush on females in offices in Pakistan. The reason is, women need to be so hard hitting and straight forward to keep unwanted attention away, that they lose all their sweet charm.
They always need to act strong. If they don't do it, they will always be taken advantage of or worse face harassment.
But I agree as Spcok and Naaman have said, sometimes they are a distraction for male colleagues if they are very pretty and junior and inexperienced girls are an easy prey for senior executives.
well no a hot guy is definitely a welcome view for me but i tend to get distracted by guys like that

i bet it's much easier for a guy to focus though, since i've noticed men have this way of separating emotional issues/pain from work, well most men i've seen can do that
