I was looking for any authentic source which can give information on it.
In most of the houses I go and if I am not able to offer namaz in masjid, so want to offer namaz at home, I find decoration pieces of a duck, budha, horse, fairy, frog, cheetah, dogie, …etc or any form of a statue of a living thing.
Also almost every room you visit, you find pictures hanging on the wall.
IF namaz becomes makrooh / unacceptable in such situations than what should one do ?
Re: Offering namaz while having pictures and statues around.
One of the fatwaa I read long time back was: Cover them up with a cloth. or turn over the pictures for the time being.. PLUS as long as they are not at the front, it is okay... no need to do anything...
Re: Offering namaz while having pictures and statues around.
Best I can say is what AQ said, if you can not do that then at least keep the “karaah’ee’yat” in your heart (for the picture) when you are praying.
Sahaba, went to Rome (I think) and they have Baitul-Khalaa there, which were facing Qibla. Sahaba used that but with “karaah’ee’yat”
All of us sometime perform Salaat in hotel Lobbies or Airport lounges where some music is going on PA system. We do perform Salat there too, and it valid

sorry no sources :)
I second that. If they are directly in front, I just cover them up with a piece of cloth. Allah knows best!
Re: Offering namaz while having pictures and statues around.
it has to do with niyet.
statues of Mary and Jesus were also in the churches, but i offered prayers in a churches at university iftaars.
i strongly feel that faith has to do with intent and as a Musalimah, i feel that pictures, statues mean nothing, as long as my aqeedah is pure.
however, in personal life having a specfic clean prayer room with only a prayer carpet, tasbeeh, Quran sharif & lights is best to avoid distraction and keep the room as a personal retreat from the world.
Re: Offering namaz while having pictures and statues around.
Of course, if there is no place w/o stautes/ pictures, then one should just pray (not praying bcoz of these isn't a legit excuse, correct me if i'm wrong please).
But to those who do have such things in their house....
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or pictures." (Reported by al-Bukhaari)
'Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: "Shall I not send you on the same mission as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent me? Do not leave any built-up tomb without levelling it, and do not leave any picture in any house without erasing it." (Reported by Muslim and al-Nisaa'i; this is the version narrated by al-Nisaa'i).
