what does Umra mean?

^^

u don’t know what umra is! here read about it>>>>>

http://i-cias.com/e.o/umra.htm

it's Arabic.. how'm i supposed to know unless I look it up or someone tells me.. so it means visit..

btw the website you provided has the incorrect verses. it's 2:158 not 2:153

^^ i didn't create that website if it has a problem contact its webmaster and put your query forward.

p.s "are u sure u read the info' on that website properly, umra does't mean as u put it VISIT, it means little pilgrimage in english"

I believe I read it some place, that in Prophet’s :saw: time, the pilgrimage to Mekkah on the 9th of Zil-al-Hajjah was known as Hajj-e-Akbar and pilgrimage to Mekkah at any other time during the year was called Hajj-e-Asghar.

Somewhere between that time and the present time, the terminologies changed, and the pilgrimage on the 9th of Zil-al-Hajjah is referred to now, as Hajj. Pilgrimage to Mekkah at any other time is now known as “Umra”. And the category of Hajj-e-Akbar is now reserved for the times when 9th of Zil-al-Hajjah falls on a Friday.

Wallah o Aalim

^^ :mash: does one attain more sawab for doing haj-e-akbar

:~)

yara larRtay kyon hoa.. i just pointed it out for the benefit of whoever visits the site..

I couldn't care less what the site says.. the word is used in the Qur'an as 'visit' so 'visit' it shall be for me.

^^ not fighting mate, just ponting out something peace… :flower1:

true but nobody misses out on a once in a lifetime opportunity (for some ppl) and ppl secretly film, i know my personal friends who went on umra they filmed secretly by hiding there camcoder under their ihram when the saw the security personel on duty approaching them, and taking pictures is the best part, u get to remember which maqamat u went to and keep ones memory fresh by looking at the photos

Its not as if there are no pics available all over the internet for all those places. When I went for Umra, I never spent any time taking pics, while I was in Masjid-e-Haraam or Masjid-e-Nabwi. Much better pics than what I can possibly take are available in the shops outside. I'd rather spend the time in prayers and supplications.

I did take pics when visiting the site of Battle Uhad, Cave Hira and other historical locations, and I don't remember any shurta (policeman) ever bothering about people taking pics, in those locations.

^^ lucky u, but on most occasion ppl have their cameras and or cam corders confiscated by security officials/policemen etc amd secondly it also depends on the actual person some feel the need to take pictures themselves and some just buy them from shops as u said.

but 1st hand experience counts, i'd feel more comfortable taking pics myself if i was to get the opportunity, the buzz and the excitement of the moment would make the situation even more tense and enjoyable at the same time.
