Of pardah and pictures

A lot of weddings are segregated in north america now especially if the girl observes pardah or wears hijaab so that she can dress to her glory in the ladies section. Now even if its a female photographer taking pics or a family member, the processing at the lab can still be done by a male who would be non-mehram. So my question is doesnt that defeat the purpose of having a segregated wedding where you are doing pardah from the male members of your family and friends when you end up getting your non pardah wedding pictures processed by a total stranger?

Re: Of pardah and pictures

What harm does it do if a stranger sees a picture of someone he will never know or meet? Isn't the idea of pardah to protect the woman?

Re: Of pardah and pictures

If that is true then all the people who slander modelling as a profession should not cause what are the chances these models from these fashion magazines would be met in person. (ANd im not taking about the ones who barely wear any clothes, the more modest ones who still cover up decently)

Re: Of pardah and pictures

I kinda sorta have to agree with semi on this one.

If you’re really into it, then maybe try to get females to develop the pics. But if one isnt avaliable and you ‘have’ to get the pics developed I dont see it as a big deal.

And I dont think the whole segregated wedding bit defeats any purpose.

Re: Of pardah and pictures

U think thas bad? I went to a wedding where the DJ kicked all the guys out coz the grls wanted to dance, and dance they did.. with the DJ (a guY) still there, the waiters (all men) going in and out, the videographer (also a guy).. :hehe:

Re: Of pardah and pictures

^ LOL
my question is are you going to show your wedding pics to girls only? So no guy can look at the pics unless he is the bride's mehraam or the other girls who are in the pics, their mehraam.

Really people have stooped Islam to such silliness!

Re: Of pardah and pictures

What about friends and family taking pics, will they be barred from doing so? Everyone takes pics at memorable events such a wedding so its almost impossible for someone not to take pics with the bride. And some point its inevitable their fathers/brothers/husbands etc (all non-mehrams to the bride) will see the pics.

Re: Of pardah and pictures

you can use a digial camera and print them at home

and if you like you can post in image gallery on GS where people you will never meet can admire your frock

Re: Of pardah and pictures

well women observing pardah in the past were never painted! so i guess being pictured if you observe pardah is quite nonsense. i took some pic at a wedding in a woman section and i will never have them developped, cause i don't know who would look at them in a pro lab....if i need a print i'll print it at home, as daisy suggest

Re: Of pardah and pictures

well women observing pardah are not supposed to chit chat with non mehram guys so i doubt they would show strangers their wedding pics:D
