i am not an alim, i wud suppose that is prob. allowed.
laikin phir aik aur masla aa jata hay.
i doubt making the pics of any such event public, comes under the fold of Islam.

i dunno. are photographs of females in hijaab disallowed? i would guess not.

J'adore how some rules are ok to break while others call upon fatwas. Has anyone objected to the image galleries on gupshup?

The big bad brown scary man at islamic school told me pictures werent alowed...the metre stick really conveyed that point.

i actually have. aur kuch?

Would it make it right (islamically) if she wasnt wearing 'Hijab'?

Do Islamic rules only apply to 'Hijabi' girls and not the rest?

Maybe modeling in hijab is a bit over board for you all but if thats what she wants to do, I don't see why everyone has to worry about it. I mean after all, who are you to judge? At the very least she does realize that she has 'some' obligation towards her religion.

I also don't understand the whole modesty issue attached to hijabis, I mean can't these girls have fun? With the attributes everyone is always so desperate to attach to hijabis, it really does demolish the whole concept of do as you desire.

What'll we have now, Hijab by Christian Dior?

What century are you living in dude?? They're already here.. i've seen atleast one on with a cK hijab. Not that i have anything against it or anything for it, im pretty neutral to the issue. But theyve been here for quite a while.

Ok firstly its a *beauty * contest. For somebody like me- to enter a beauty contest would be putting myself down. I just dont think I would enter such a contest.Wearing a hijab while at it, now thats a completely different story.

Hijab is for modesty and its to protect the beauty of women.Well thats how I see it. Fine by me if she wants to wear the hijab in the contest , but to me it seems as if she's a little bit confused. A hijab while putting herself in such a contest.Seems so silly. Also exactly what time of outfits will she wear?

since every fun is banned from music and art and other forms of entertainment it is really forcing people to go other extremes that
was the point of my question .

His essay in praise of pornography, to be published alongside images of US porno stars in a book called XXX:30 Porn Star, is bound to stir up frenzied protests, if not some thing more harmful. In an extract from his essay, The East is Blue, he implies that Muslims are avid consumers of pornography because of the sex segregation they have to endure.

Then why is child pornography, Bestiality and pedophile behavior and other such trends present in the west? They certainly do have all the “fun” things allowed. May be we can argue all this freedom is taking to new extremes?

so for example if they did compete in a segregated setting, why would it be against Islam?
[/QUOTE]

'competing' in itself for such vain things is wrong. It's not islamic to compete against one another.

apnee taraf say?

:hehe: That’s so true. I’m glad you mentioned it cause I thought I was the only one who’s noticed designer hijabs.

No.

If you compete for good deeds, then that is permissible.
eg. saying salam first etc..
But there should not be any jealousy or anything of that sort involved.

Mehnaz, lol, yeah im ashamed to say i have one. :p

saw a lv hijab too ... although fake likt the cks

i saw a CK hijab in queens...it had the lettering CK all over it..pretty tacky if u ask me...i think it was fake..i cud be wrong tho..

definately a positive change..
I can understand that the point of the hijab is to prevent people from looking at you and a beauty contest defeats this purpose.
But on the same hand ... her being a part of the contest shows that a hijab doesnt distract you from leading a normal life.
