Of cooking pots !

Allah hi bachai!

I have tonns of them  How many pots do you reckon should one roughly have in a desi kitchen? 3? 5?

I have:

  • 3 pressure cookers
  • 4 Large , no wait, super large cooking pots .
  • 5 medium sized pots
  • 4 tinku si small pots
  • 4 frying pans

And now I am wondering if i have too many :konfused: … how many do you have?

Re: Of cooking pots !

  • 1 big pot -1 small pot
  • 2 frying pans -1 karahi -1 very small pan for chai only

thats all I have in my kitchen! however I have two extra big pots for dawats etc in the basement.. my mom thinks this is nothing and I should have more but I dun like cooking so I dun invest in it :D

Re: Of cooking pots !

:hayaa: I do feel , the lesser the pots the more the space in the kitchen cabinets … How do you guys manage when you have dawats or parties? coz usually for dawats you end up making more then 3-4 dishes at the same time hai na?

Re: Of cooking pots !

hehe we hardly do any dawats.. we take people out for dinner :D

When we cooked for 50 people in Ramadan... we used the extra large pan twice for rice (since it made 5 cups of rice) and the medium size pan twice for channa and veggies! It took us two days to cook so it all worked out.. I dun think we can cook in one day for a big dawat anyway!

Re: Of cooking pots !

I am obssessed with kitchen stuff, I have:

2 large stock pots type heavy base pots
3 medium size pots
2 large cooking pans
4 small/medium size cooking pans
3 small itsy bity pots
3 frying pans large, medium, small size
1 small pressure cooker

Still when I have to cook big dawat, I borrow my MILs big a*s pateela for cooking rice or mahashi etc

Re: Of cooking pots !

Those people borrow our pots and forget to return , we have to ask the pots back when we have our dawat. We keep ours in the garage/backyard barn.

Re: Of cooking pots !

We have

1 v.large saucepan
1 large saucepan
1 pressure cooker
4 medium saucepans
3 small saucepans
1 large wok
1 medium wok
1 large deep fryingpan
1 large frying pan with a high side
1 medium frying pan
1 small frying pan

There may be a couple of others, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

If I'm having a dawat I borrow my mum's large saucepans as I don't have space and she only lives 10 mins drive away :)

I do want to get a new saucepan for cooking rice for dinner parties, a wide base but shallower sides.

Re: Of cooking pots !

ok guys , I can understand the huge collection of pots .. lekin I noticed that many of us have more then one frying pans :hayaa:

Do we actually need that many in the kitchen? :konfused:

Re: Of cooking pots !

I have two and I need them... one is exclusively for eggs and the other one for everything else!

ps: I even have two sponges etc because I wash egg pots and pans separately from everything else.. I just dun like the smell of the egg even though I like eating it :D

Re: Of cooking pots !

GTG , you egg dushman … does the pan stink even after the egg has been cooked? … coz i have never experienced that … if you leave it on the flame empty , then yes the protein starts smelling , werna , the minute you do bread on top , it doesnt stink …

I have got many frying pans .. only coz i had been trying to use them as karahi for pakora’s .. but just couldnt find the one deep enough .. but in the process I have collected so many of them , of different shapes and sizes :cb:
