ODIs Boring

I now feel most bored by ODIs. It would be better to have just tests and 20/20

Re: ODIs Boring

I have been saying this for a while. I originally opposed T20 format (as its hurting the batsmen's mindset already) but it has gain popularity and has great commercial success (as ODI had back in 80s).

So I think its better to see off ODI after current FTP. Teams should play T20 while touring and in tourneys. While more tests matches can be held with elimination of ODIs and ODI tourneys. All teams must develop two separate teams with 30% common players. This way we can have both T20 (tullaybaaz) and specialists in tests.

Re: ODIs Boring

No not at all im enjoying every format of cricket :jhanda:

Re: ODIs Boring

ODIs are awesome bro. You must be bored perhaps cuz of TOO many ODIs. But it's a much better format than T20 tukkabaazi. ODI requires much higher skill to succeed than T20.

Re: ODIs Boring

Yes it does, but then the middle overs of ODIs where batsmen like Yousaf, Younus, Dravid, Jayawardena excel have become boring.

Re: ODIs Boring

Icon.. I still enjoy them.. they are very crucial overs in most games and the real test.. you are talking about the days when 270 was a great score.. and the above battters would just take singles in the middle overs.. now when sooo many ODIS are 300+ the middle overs have enough entertainment :D

Re: ODIs Boring

I think T30 is the answer

T20 is too short
50/50 is way too long esp. the middle overs (say overs 15-35) where the players are just going thru their motions can be very boring

With T30 or 30 overs aside, the game w'd still finish in 4 hours and a quarter (2 hours each per batting side + 15-min innings break!) bowlers will get a decent 6 overs each to bowl & impress and the batters will need to have a game plan. Mere tullah just won't work.

Re: ODIs Boring

Asif.. the skill/luck ratio would still be pretty low for T30. compared to ODI.. and thats what I have a problem with.. sure it would be less tullaybaazi than t20.. but tullabaazi still I think.

The 15-35 overs are not that boring anymore as they were 10 yrs ago. Also even if they are boring compared to the powerplays.. they are very important to the result of the match.. and you need skill to play them well specially these days when you are chasing 300+ regularly.. not very boring then at all.. for example today its these middle overs when the Indian batters lost the game cuz they gave away 2 many wickets.. it's not just about going thru the motions and picking up 4 singles an over anymore like it was 10 yrs ago :D
