What i understand is that playing eleven and super-sub has to be announced before toss? isnt this unfair to the team who lose the toss? If it works this way there should be changes in the rule.
IMO both teams should announces 12 players list and should announces playing eleven only after the toss! Is this the way it works?
Yes it is. This is unfair and I think ICC didnot think about it.Cant beleive that they did. Now a days usually team pick super sub based on assumption that what will they do if they win toss. And if this happens It is usaully 12 vs 11.
i dont get it, cant u use that player at any stage of the match? for example if danish kaneria is my super sub, lets say i lose the toss, cant he play in place of lets say salman butt!! and then when we bat dani will sit and butt will bat?
:k:
Yep you are right…
So what usually people are doing is that, if you plan to bat after winning the toss you want to bat first then you will take a Bowler as supersup. and after the inning bring him in for a bowler.
But if you plan to field first then It is better to chose a bowler.
Problem comes when you lose the toss. In that case whole plan goes for a toss.
This whole rule is a farce. I doubt any captain in world cricket is in favor of it. Perhaps India might be an exception since they lack genuine all rounders.
It is an interesting rule but flawed. One fine detail can fix it, i.e. teams should be allowed to choose their supersub after the toss, as opposed to before the toss. Bas itni si baat.
