Ode to all Muslims

This breaks my heart when i read it. Especially these lines: ghairo ki shikaayat nahin / apni hi khata hai / …] ae khaasa-e khaasaan Rasool waqt-e dua hai / ummat pay teri aa kay ajab waqt para hai. He wrote it more than a hundred years ago, but in 2003, it is still more than ever relevant and applicable. Every corner of the world, the Muslim ummah has ceased to exist in all but name. Racism, sectarianism, nationalism, all the -isms of the world have defeated us. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Hali was also a very vocal proponent of women’s rights accorded to them by Islam. If he were alive today, what would he say about the socio-economic conditions around the Muslim world today ?

Ya Rehmatul lil a’lameen

chhaayi hui aalam pay qayaamat ki ghaTa hai
badli hui duniya mein zamaanay ki hawa hai
gardish mein musalmaan hai, falak kaanp raha hai
ghairo ki shikaayat nahin apni hi khata hai

woh teray mahaajir teray ansaar kahaan hein
jo Badr o Ohad mein thay, woh sardaar kahaan hein
Makkay mein jo thay saath, woh do chaar kahaan hein
kuchh dair ko phir waqt unhein maang raha hai

Ae khaasa-e khaasaan Rasool waqt-e dua hai
Ya Mustafa Salle Ala, Ya Murtaza Salle Ala

Islam pay phir dushmanein bhi toot parray hein
ghaarat gar-e eemaan tabaahi pay array hai
jhanday teray har simt khudaayi mein garray hien
jab chaaha hai toofaan ka rukh morr diya hai

Ae khaasa-e khaasaan Rasool waqt-e dua hai

aghyaar ki hein Khaana-e Ka’aba pay nigaahein
masdood hui jaati hein eemaan ki raahein
Islam kay seenay say nikalnay lagi aahein
Faaraan ki choti pay bara shor macha hai

Ae khaasa-e khaasaan Rasool waqt-e dua hai
Jo deen bari shaan say nikla tha watan say
pardes mein aaj woh ghareebul ghurba hai

Ya Mustafa Salle Ala, Mohtaram, Munawarram
Ya Rasool Allah ho aik nigaah-e karam
koi apna nahin, gham kay maaray hein hum
aap kay darr pay faryaad laaye hein hum
ho nigaah-e karam, warna chaukhat pay hum

kehna saba Huzoor say, kehta hai ghulaam
bas aik nazar ho, aik nazar ka sawaal hai
Ya Mustafa, Ya Murtaza, Salle Ala Rasool Allah

daawa hai teri chaah ka, is ummat-e gumraah ka
koi nahin tera siwa, Ya Rahmatul lil A’lameen

Ae Allah karam kar Mustafa kay waastay
Ya Rasool Allah karam kijiay Khuda kay waastay

~ Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali

*sigh when ever i read the musaddas ... *sigh

Most of it is touching but some of it is a bit ‘polytheistic’ for my taste…

Polytheistic ? You can't be serious. Hali's work is anything BUT polytheistic.

woh deen jis sai tauheed phaali jahan mai
hamesha Islam tha jis pai nazaan
woh daulat bhi kho baThay aakhir Musulman

If one has read his Musaddas, i am not at all certain how anyone could state that his writings were in any way even remotely polytheistic.

All innovations. People like Hali and his likes
divided Muslims.

hali sahab ke innovative poetry ke waja se he PARA HA.

:rotfl: Aap kai statements paRh kar, Maulana Hali ka eik aur zaberdast shair yaad aya jo iss par bahaut fit hota hai:

ussay jaantay hain baRa apna dushman
humaray karay ayb jo ham pai raushan
naseehat sai nafrat hai nasah si an-ban
samajhtay hain ham rahnumayoun ko rahzan
yahi ayb hai sab ko khoya hai jis nai
hamain naobhar kar Daboya hai jiss nai

Approximate english translation:
we think our greatest enemy to be the man who reveals our faults to us
hating advice and at loggerheads with those who give it
we think our guides are out to rob us
it is this fault which has ruined us all
which has wrecked the whole complement of our ship

Another one just for you:
na sunni mai aur jafri mai ho ulfat
na numani wa shafi mai ho millat
wahabi sai sufi ki kam ho na nafrat
muqallad karay na muqallad pai laanat
rahay ahl-e Qibla mai jang aisi baham
kai deen-e Khuda par hansay sara aalam

Its because of Heretics like Hali that we are divided.
Islam ka rasta sirf ekk he.

This particular piece is trying to potray as if Rasool Allah(SAW)
can help us like Allah(SWT).

In a very specific manner, he deals with the issue of polytheism in his Musaddas. Read that first, then Insha'Allah we will continue with this discussion.

Well, i replied after reading your post. And that poem or whatever
you call it potrayed Halis mind set. I am least interested in his
Mosuddas.

Say: I do not say to you, I have with me the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel; I do not follow aught save that which is revealed to me. Say: Are the blind and the seeing one alike? Do you not then reflect?

And I do not say to you that I have the treasures of Allah and I do not know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel, nor do I say about those whom your eyes hold in mean estimation (that) Allah will never grant them (any) good-- Allah knows best what is in their souls-- for then most surely I should be of the unjust.
