Odd mouse problem on my latop

I have a laptop with an a USB wireless mouse, which it stopped detecting just yesterday. The mouse is fine. I checked it on my work PC and stuff. But on my lap top it plugs in and all the rest but for some reason it doesn’t work.

Any ideas?

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

Uninstall and re install the mouse/usb driver.

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

no no, mouse is plug and play so it should work. Do you have other USB peripherals attached?

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

Ipod every now and then. Extra HD which worked with the mouse before. It is a really odd problem. I am betting the IT guys here ****ed something up.

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

May be the driver for the mouse or USB got corrupted , many a times , unistalling those two drivers and letting the mouse and USB detected by computer will work. If your mouse is not a plug and play you can install the driver yourself after uninstalling it.

Dude keep life simple.
Get a mouse with cable. one it wont get lost. Two your os don’t have to deal with wireless driver just for the mouse.
Any way you got to sit close to computer to use the mouse.
Ppl make silly things just because they can sell it.I mean your USB is still occupied.

So many things you do not need but you buy them because they look cool. WL mouse is one such example , the latest one is iPad. People are buying it because it looks cool, it is a notebook but has no key board, what will you need to hook up with it to type your email or notes ? A keyboard ! Right ? Where is the convenience then ?

ok
to me

going through whole TCP stack so you don’t have to have a cable, when you actually have to sit close to machine any ways, is not smart idea.

Its not necessary.

wireless mouse/keyboard doesnt go thru the tcp stack. :smack2:

hmmm

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

Well the wireless is great for accessing the laptop from the sofa when watching a movie on a projector  That is just a single example.

But can’t figure out what is wrong. Got rid of the software, though it doesn’t help as it is plug and play on Windows 7.

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

it may sound like a stupid suggestion but did you try changing the batteries of your mouse?

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

oo lambi si taar kh’reed lo

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

Yeah switched out the batteries twice and it doesn’t detect it as plugged in Device on the USB ports. Which is really odd.

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

I have a desktop hooked up to my big screen TV and have the same setup as yours. Wireless mouse and Keyboard. Sometimes, it stops working and more often, the problem is with the receiver that is connected to the USB port.

Do you have more than one device hooked up that USB port through a USB splitter?

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

Nope. I do switch the mouse around from port to port depending on what I have attached to the Laptop. But that has not been a problem at all.

I am just going to get the IT guys too look at it tomorrow.

Re: Odd mouse problem on my latop

do you have another usb mouse? plug that in and then when it detects and drivers gets installed then take it out plug your wireless mouse in and check if it works.

If not then uninstall the driver and take out the wireless mouse usb receiver and plug in the cable mouse ( as the drivers has been installed previously) restart the computer and take the usb mouse out and plug int he wireless mouse receiver. See if this work like that.

If not then go for registry error scanners.. sometimes they help too.
