Obsession

So i’ve been lurking around fashion and beauty a lot more often lately because of ahem reasons and I don’t get the obsession with make up that some people on here have. I don’t get why people … well girls … put so more emphasis on it than outfit (you kno who you guys are) and just how stupid in general they get over it … trust me girls most guys don’t even like it and think you’re just faking it and look ugly without make up and i have been told on very good authority by a couple of girls on different ocassion that the more makeup the girl is wearing the easier she is …

Before people start bashing me that all girls do it and bla bla … i grew up with a sister who until she got engaged wore very lil make up if any and neither did my mom (probably why i don’t get this idea) and I know more than a few girls … even on gs … who barely wear any make up.

Re: Obsession

I think you need a bit of concealer for those dark circles under your eyes :(

Re: Obsession

Whats wrong with wanting to be well prestented at all times?

Asking about outfit makeup doesnt meal one will be dressed up in drag!

Re: Obsession

you will never understand how relaxing makeup is:barbie:

Re: Obsession

Makeup is like taking care of your car or something. You feel good because you're presented well.

The thing is, most of the girls that are posting in the FB forum aren't really wearing a lot of makeup. They are just looking for the right type of makeup.

Its a weird addiction...I am a beauty junkie and cannot get enough of products. But it doesn't mean I wear all of it all the time. I pick and choose depending upon what I feel like.

Re: Obsession

Easier? more easy going? Please elaborate :) lol jk

Listen, some girls just feel more comfortable and confident with a certain amount of makeup on. I for one, don't consider foundation/face makeup ACTUAL makeup that would place someone in the drag catagory. Assuming ofcourse that the makeup is minimal, it's used to cover up acne scars/discoloration and you haven't bronzed the crap out of your face or your blush doesn't look like you got punched from both sides. As much as I love other types of makeup (eyes and lips), I don't do it much on a regular basis because i'm already wearing atleast a little concealer or foundation when I go out and I don't want to look too overdone. if you're going to a wedding or another formal event, no harm getting a little dolled up, and I certainly don't hope anyone assumes that means i'm "easy"...easy on the eyes maybe, but that's about it :p

Re: Obsession

people seriously need to grow up and read wat i wrote ... all i wrote was why people are so obsessed with it when there are negative connotations associated with it and i even said i don't get this because it wasn't very common in my family hence me asking and the only person who got this point was psuedo and i feel a lil dumber now that i contributed something here

Re: Obsession

wow, didn’t mean to strike a nerve with you there. i completely understand where you’re coming from as i also come from a very low maintainance khaandan that is not much into makeup and such…

was just trying to illicit a chuckle or two… :naak:

Re: Obsession

whats up with guys just lurking around here and giving fatwas on Fashion and beauty * zoor zoor se rolling my eyes*

Re: Obsession

sheesh....the poor guy simply asked a question......he wasn't lurking....he was legitimately asking a question about something that baffles him.

and I kinda know what he means.....as much as I may enjoy collecting and applying make-up, I too come from a family in which make-up is not encouraged.

then I married into a family that thinks a woman is naked until she is all dolled up.......

there are all sorts of mind-sets out there.......one exploring the other is not a bad thing.

for my personal opinion on the matter.....see my signature.

Re: Obsession

I totally get what you’re saying.

That’s the same set up my mom grew up in.
She tells me all the time that she didn’t even really wear nail polish until she graduated from High School. The only time she was allowed to “doll up”, which included nail polish, lip stain, and light blush, was during REALLY important or formal gatherings, as her father was in the Pakistan Air Force.

But that was then. Now, it’s another world. Although a lot of people might have the same ideas and beliefs, it’s hard to fit into today’s society with those old school ideas.

I personally HATE wearing make up. But, because of the “want” to hide what I feel are imperfections, or to not stick out like a soar thumb, I wear make ups at social gatherings or for important meetings and such at work.

To each their own? :bummer:

Re: Obsession

Ignorant, much?

First of all, why would you assume that just because some girls like makeup they even give a damn what a guy has to say about it? I LOVE makeup, I blog about it and it's a passion of mine. I on no way rely on makeup to make me feel my worth and most days I don't even wear makeup because I'm confident about my skin/appearance without it. I in no way let it define me, so to assume that girls who wear a lot of makeup are "easy" is comical. Seriously, how old are you and what century do you live in? I understand your sister/mom didn't wear much makeup but I still cannot believe the amount of ignorance that's in your post. Nowadays, makeup is way more than making your skin lighter or looking like you're in a pageant. Many women, myself included, love the application process and most certainly some rely on it to cover up blemishes/bad skin but it's also a form of expression.

Sheesh.
