Obligatory Eid Thread

Alright, we all know Eid’s right around the corner, iA

So guys & gals, what are your plans for this Eid?

Family time?
Eid Namaaz?
Working/ school/ college/ uni?
Or no plans at all?
Will you be holding off celebrations for the weekend, since iA Eid will be on a weekday?

What do you normally do on Eid?

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

It feels nice to actually have proper Eid holidays after a gazillion years. I’m looking forward to the Eid celebrations which were non-existent back home. A lot of people have flown back to their home countries but since we’re only off for a week, I’m not flying back home. It takes 2 days to get there so there’s no point. Besides, I really want to experience Eid here. Excited!!

Well first of all..Eid mobarak to all of you!. I will be working after namaz. My boss is out on conference..so i am acting manager basically. And coming weekend we have dinners to go to. One of our family friend uncle..is throwing a big Eid bash in hall coming sat. Friday dinner at someone’s house..sunday afternoon brunch at khala. It will be quiet busy!. And it turns out..i will not be doing Qurbani..I am getting done through one of the halal store here.

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

I just sleep all day long

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

Every Eid, all the women in my family & extended family spend Chaand Raat at my cousin’s house. We either have our own party or go to Chaand Raat melas/ bazaars.
From there, we all head over to my Taya Abu’s house, since he’s the eldest in our family since my grandparents passed away. Mom & Tayi and the “older girls” (:hehe: ) stay up all night cooking. The guys take turns ironing everyone’s clothes… There’s usually 3 or 4 irons going at once! lol
We all stay up watching home videos or just talking. Some go to sleep to sneak in a nap before having to get ready for namaz.

Everyone packs into their cars, cousins battle for who is going to go with who in whose car. Make it to the banquet hall for namaz with just enough time to grab a seat before the khutbah.
And then back to Taya abu’s house for brunch! Dad and Taya abu fire up the barbecue while mom and tayi warm up the food. All the kids chip in and set the adult & kids’ table.

We have brunch and then head out to meet family friends.

We planned on doing the same this Eid but for the first time we’re not going to be celebrating Eid on the same day :bummer:
So this Eid, we’ll be home for the first day… We’ll be praying alone and everyone will be going back to school or work after namaz. Can’t take 2 days off from work/ school, so we won’t see the rest of the family until the weened. :hinna:

Might not seem like a big deal, but we’re a pretty close family. So everyone’s kind of upset about having to spend Eid alone.

Ps, Eid Mubarak everyone! :hugz:

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

Family Time: Somewhat. Everyone won’t be home for rest of the day.

Eid Namaz: Absolutely. In sha Allah! 8:30AM Sharp (or so the masjid message said…)

Work: I have not made up my mind yet. I have planted the seed already, so If after the Namaz I feel like I won’t go, they’ll be prepared.

As for plans (thinking next year): I’d hate to say it, but the actual fanfare does not really happen outside native countries. Eids in Pakistan are definitely more fun comparatively. The plan is to celebrate next Eid ul Adha in Pakistan, if Allah permits.

Typical Eid days: Dad transforms into Jail Superintendent of a sort, going to everyone’s room to make sure they’re up 3 hours before the prayer schedule. :hehe: Some still drag feet. But Alhamdulillah we always make it to the masjid on time. After Prayer, sometimes it’s family time, calling friends/relatives who are not here to wish them. Eat food, and just relax. Other times, everyone eats a little after prayer and goes to Uni/Work/Misc.

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

I agree. Eid in Pak is super fun! Especially if you have loads of close relatives & friends close by.
We have to drive 3+ hours away from home to spend time with relatives, wasting half a day! :frowning:

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

I’ll probably go meet family around weekend. For the actual day I’ll have to make do with saying Eid Mubarak to dad and calling people’s phones.

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

Here’s my plan:
Eid Salat
Breakfast at my parents’ place
Lunch with friends
Dinner dawat at my place

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

To say Eid Mubarak to all …

EID MUBARAK EVERYONE

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

On bakarah Eid …

Get up for Fajr. (Recite takbir after prayer and whenever moving around)
Get ready for jamat … Wear new or nice clothes
Pray in earliest jamat
Eat something sweet
Come home give Mubaraks to contacts
Listen and sing to nasheeds with kids and play drum (daff)
Meet family and friends.
Get called by Meat shop to collect meat … Apportion it for distribution
Distribute the meat

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

Tradition is that on Eid fitr we eat before Eid prayer and Eid Adha we eat after Eid prayer.

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

Eid mubarak to everyone. Plan is to spend time with family, pray namaz and go to masjid.

Re: Obligatory Eid Thread

Eid Mubarak! I can’t stop throwing up :bummer:
