Why is it wrong to break laws?
Re: obeying laws secular style
What rule have you broken lately? That is the question. Here's my philosophy, sweet and simple: laws were made to be broken just like traditions and customs and so on.......
Re: obeying laws secular style
I just wanted to understand what motivates a secularist to uphold secular laws.
Re: obeying laws secular style
Your question doesn’t make sense anymore. :halo: A secularist has his/her laws/principles (?) just like anyone else does and you don’t need a religion or education to motivate to uphold laws. Everyone has limitations and boundaries, a set of principles which he/she abides by. You just know when it’s right to make a law and to break it.
Re: obeying laws secular style
So when is it right to break laws or to uphold laws? Why make laws which need to be broken?
If a secularist depends on his/her own principles then there is no right and wrong only that which benefits the individual and that which harms the individual, without any concern for morality. As you stated above that 'You just know when it's right to make a law and to break it.'
Since there cannot be a right and wrong in secularism but only an established right and wrong, then the only problem secularists should have with religion is that it is not part of the established right and wrong.
Re: obeying laws secular style
Religion, brain washes people. Relegion feeds on total surrender of human intelligence. Basis of religion is faith. Highly devoted faith.
If humans have an option to be secular then why are u worried.
If there is an impartial govt. which is also secular.. they can make the life of God much easier by the doing the work of God. Thats how modern societies are formed.
Re: obeying laws secular style
I think the mouthpieces of religion brainwash people, no religion ever brainwashed anyone. The same is true for secularism. Communist russia brainwashed and forced their secular ideas to the people. Bush is bombing Iraq which has lead to over 100000 innocent civilian deaths in order to spread democracy.
Regardless of whether it is religion or secularism , whatever forces its ideas instead of convincing the other person is wrong.
I don't agree with blind faith or following a feeling neither do I agree with the secularist idea that God has no right to legislate which also doesn't make sense. Secularism implies the existence of God yet they think that a limited intellect of a human can legislate and God cannot.
Why do you have a problem with justifying your stance or discussing your opinion? If humans have an option to be religious then why do you have a problem since secularism allows it.
I'm not convinced of democracy or theocracy.
Re: obeying laws secular style
Islam
Re: obeying laws secular style
care to elaborate? who will be the leader? what will be the process of choosing him? can the leader be a woman? will there be an election? legislature? judiciary? beauracracy?
Re: obeying laws secular style
You people are funny, instead of trying to convince me of your ideas you start questioning me of mine. Is it because you are not convinced of your own ideas?
misterofall240, why don't you start a new topic in the religion forum? I don't want to mix this one. I want other secularists to preach their secular faith.
Re: obeying laws secular style
Secularism is hardly a faith. It works. I'm not sure why you're questioning something which works and has allowed society to progress so nicely. Your questions themselves are baseless anyway and not worth answering to. If you want to convince me that an Islamic government would be better, please give me an example and details on how to implement it. You cannot just say I want Islam and not secularism. You need to elaborate.
Re: obeying laws secular style
I know I need to elaborate , I didn't get convinced that easily either. I was hoping you would start a topic in the religion forum as what we would be discussing here is not related to this topic and that it would give others a chance to participate.
Secularism is a belief or aqeeda of capitalism.
Re: obeying laws secular style
okay Raihan bhai jaan, the thread is open in the religious forum. I anxiously await your thoughts.
