Re: Obesity in Pakistani people
Well I think the American ideal of fitness is too unnatural. The women who are hailed as healthy and fit have generally starved away most of their body fat, so much so that they require implants just to look female. And a lot of them are neurotic; like everything is about the current diet du jour. These days it's all about protein powder, shakes, tuna cans, etc. I guess their ideal is extremely skinny because most are extremely fat.
I guess in Pakistan, the first thing is majority of population is not making a ton of money. so having well defined pecs isn't their priority, being well fed is. as for the people who do eat a lot, have naukers, and are generally lazy...well a lot of it is a product of the society. for example, in Pakistan my dad used to walk to the local university; however the chancellor got upset that such an 'esteemed person' is walking and sent a driver to our house the next day. So those are lifestyle factors...and I guess genetics are at play too, since pakistanis have extremely high rate of insulin resistance from birth. but still we are not as fat as americans.
i would say for american women the spread is 25-50-25 of fit/average/obese and over there, it's like 5-85-10. so on average pakis are better, even though they might have less fit people.
