obedience to Rasulullah (s)

  • What does Quran tell us about the obedience to Rasulullah (s). Is it conditional or unconditional?

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

assalamu 'alaikum

This is a vast subject. But before that, some fantastic notices: when one becomes a Muslim, he read the kalima tayyiba.
When you become a Muslim, you accept HabibAllah salalaho 'alaihi wa salam as your teacher. You accept to follow the Last True Eternal Message from Allah that he salalaho 'alaihi wa aalihi wa salam has brought to you. In simple words, Islam has been given to us through the Best of All Creation, The Best of all Lights on Earth, the Perfect Creation, The Most Beautiful Person on Earth, The Man who walked and trees would cry to touch him, the ground would blossom, the air would fill with fragrance. This is who our beloved, our heart is. Ya RasulAllah salalaho 'alaihi wa salam.

The Qur'an Al-Kareem was sent into the blessed mubarak heart of Habeebina Syedina Muhammad salalaho 'alaihi wa salam by Syedina Jibril 'alaihissalam in the beginning in that blessed cave. And then he salalaho 'alaihi wa salam recited the word of Allah ta'ala.

The Love of Syedina HabibAllah is FARD. This is clearly stated in all the 4 madhabs of Sunni Islam. Without it, there is no Islam. You must love him more than everything created. Love has many categories and also has conditions. True love is one that has obedience in it. Without obedience, love would be, as scholars of Tasawwuf, but infact any learned God Fearing scholar would say "Naqis", incomplete.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

thanx for your reply, but I wanted to know what Quran says about it.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Please refer to the following famous verse:

003.031
YUSUFALI: Say: “If ye do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
PICKTHAL: Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
SHAKIR: Say: If you love Allah, then follow me, Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, MercifuL

There are many others that say follow Allah and his Prophet :saw:.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah. [An-Nisaa 4:80]

Whoever disobeys the Messenger after guidance has been clarified to him, and follows other than the path of the believers, We shall give to him what he deserves and broil him in hell, which is the worst abode. [An-Nisaa 4:115]

But no, by your Lord! (O Muhammad) They cannot be believers until they make you judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against your decisions, but accept them with the fullest submission. (An-Nisaa’ 4:65)

And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment.(Al-Hashr 59:7)

It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.(Al-Ahzab 33:36)

Yes, it is unconditional obedience. Such an obedience is reserved only for him and for no one else, no matter how learned the peer or sheikh is.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Obey Allah :swt: and the Messenger :saw:…

OK…So we obey Allah :swt: by following the Quran…

How do we obey the Messenger :saw:?

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Thanx, but this ayah does not say any thing about the ultimate obedience of Prophet (s). Its just a recommendation.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

You follow his examples narrated down as hadith BUT only the ones that DO NOT contradict the Quran. Because Quran is the ONLY criterion that is in it’s original and true form. Allah has promissed that.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Thanx for sharing the ayaht-e-Qurani. So according to these verses, whoever goes against what has been decided/said/ordered or forbidden by Rasulallah (s) is on the wrong path and his destination is hell.

Another question, are there any circumstances (other then the fear of death) that we are allowed to go against what Allah (swt) and his Prophet (s) has decided or ordered?

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

hmm, post some thing about Ahmadies or hindus and in a couple of hours there will be 4-5 pages full, talk about Obedience of Prophet (s) .............

well, see for yourself :(

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Obey Allah and obey the Prophet (5:92)

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Its better to act on it instead of filling pages.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Quran 4:80
*Whoso obeyeth the messenger hath obeyed Allah, and whoso turneth away: We have not sent thee as a warder over them. *

whoever obeys the Messenger (saw) obeys Allah....
so i think the opposite hold true, that whosoever disobeys the messenger (saw), disobeys Allah....

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

Thank you all for responding. So it is decided that the obediance to Prophet (s) is completely unconditional and no one can go against it in any circumstances. And if they do then they are among the disbelievers. right??

"Obey Allah and the Prophet, but if they turn back, then verily Allah does not love the disbelievers"
Surah Aal-e-Imran verse 32

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

^ this should be clear enough evidence that you must obey the Messenger of Allah (SAW)

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

The prophet (pbuh) was a living example of the Quran, as quoted above in the Quran itself. You’ll find the hadith that contradict the Quran, if any, are not authentic.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

*LOVE FOR ALLAH AND RASUL (sm)
*
[font='Trebuchet MS']1. “ Ahabbu Elaikum Minallahi” - Friendship/Love with Allah should be the greatest. ( Al Quran )
2. “If you love Allah , then you follow me, so that Allah also love you and excuse your sins.” ( Al Imran 31 )
3. “ He who will follow the order of Allah and Rasul (sm) , he will be the companion of those, to whom Allah has gifted blessings.” - ( Nisa 69 )

  1. Prophet Mohammad (sm) has said , “ Greatest stage of Mohabbat (Love & respect) is to be satisfied to the wish of Allah. ( What ever thing happens is by the wish of Allah).” ( Al Hadis ). So We must obey Rasulullah (pbuh). Reference:2 above.
  2. “ Al Marwu Maan Ahabba.” - Man will stay with him, whom he loves. ( Al Hadis ). So,If you want to be with Prophet (pbuh) you have to be obedient to him & Love him.
  3. In reply to a question “What is Iman (Belief)?” Prophet Mohammad (sm) has said, “Iman ( Belief) is the greatest Mohabbat (Love & Respect) with Allah and Rasul (sm). Nobody will be Kamil Mumin ( perfect believer) untill he will not Love Allah and Rasul more than the life, wealth, family members and everything of the world”. (Al Hadis). So obedience to Prophet is a must & no compromise to it.
  4. Important aspects of ensuring Mohabbat (Love &Respect) for Allah are as follows: a. Don’t be afraid of death ,rather always be ready for death. b. To be ready to leave/sacrifice the most favorite thing even the friends & relatives for the Mohabbat (love) of Allah and to be interested to the favorite things of Allah leaving own favorite things. c. To remain engaged in the prayer and Jikir ( Remembering) of Allah by heart (kalb) and tongue and never be reluctant to that in any circumstances. [font='Trebuchet MS']d. Keep Mohabbat (Love & respect) for the Kalam of Allah (Quran) and other thing closely related to Allah. e. Maintain loneliness even staying with many people and keep concentration on Allah in every work. f. To attain such a position, so that a feelings and pleasure is created for the Mohabbat of Allah. [font='Trebuchet MS']g. Have Mohabbat towards the pious men of Allah and be harsh and annoyed with Kafirs and Nafarmans (disobedient/Ungrateful). [font='Trebuchet MS']May Allah grant us amongst those who fear Allah & Alla's Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and follow Islam as directed by Allah & Prophet and be blessed to be honoured to stay with Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) in the Didar-e Elahi Mahfil. Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

you follow the communications he brings.. if we want to know how to “obey” prophets, look at history.. surely ours wasn’t the first messenger in history.. there were others and Allah narrates their stories.. learn from them and we’ll find out what “obeying the messenger” actually means..

here’s some food for thought:

73:15] Surely We have sent to you a Messenger, a witness against you, as We sent a messenger to Firon.

73:16] But Firon disobeyed the messenger, so We laid on him a violent hold.

Clearly our messenger is just like Musa sent to Firon.. so read up on Musa’s encounter with Firon and what Musa wanted Firon to do?? Did he want Firon to do miswak like him? or wear his shalwar above the ankles? spit a certain direction in the masjid? or chant something or the other while going about his daily business?

All “obey the messenger” means is to follow Allah’s communications and not exceed His limits… justifying book after book of unsubstantiated rumors and lies in the name of the prophet isn’t “obeying him”.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

^
for you Prophet:saw: was not more than a postman …

For us, he is a Messenger with a life full of message.

Re: obedience to Rasulullah (s)

well my views are formed after reading the Qur’an.

16:35] … is then aught incumbent upon the messengers **except a plain delivery (of the message)?

**** 5:92]** … only a clear deliverance of the message is (incumbent) on Our messenger.

64:12] … upon Our Messenger devolves only the clear delivery (of the message).
