I LIKE him a lot - love is a strong word for me right now. I think he is young, energetic, well-rounded, cultured, diverse in his views and not an extremist. Diversity in one's background and upbringing is IMPORTANT to lead a melting pot like the US. Its not about the white man - never should have been because its not what this country was founded on.
I think his roots will make him more approachable, grounded, sympathetic and empathetic. If anyone has a chance in hell of bringing us back to our feet, its him.
Vistory Mode is in full effect for me right now but something caught my eye here: Obama’s charm has been compared to Hitler. Everyone listened when Hitler spoke - everyone listens when Obama speaks. In one of his rallies he enthusiastically said, “Iraq war was an unwise decision - Afghanistan and Pakistan is where we should have been on the first place!” You wouldn’t believe the cheering of the crowd at that statement!!!
So yeah, he can make people fall in love :jano: with his charm as Hitler did. Time will tell how he uses that charm - for now, it’s alll gravy! :jano:
Your comment about Hitler is truely scarey scary scary - simply because now Obama has the power, I mean not just him - any president or prime minister has the power to do a Hitler or similar if they really wanted to. SCARY.
what nonsense just because some group of yahoos compared him to hitler charisma wise does not mean he will do the same idiotic things, there are plenty of good and bad ppl with a lot of charisma, if we say prophets had charisma will we then start comparing him to prophets, or rockstars or michael jordan?
why are some pakistanis hell bent on converting him to islam? he's an atheist thats what he said so let him be. after all atheism means nothing so he's right in a way. one tyrant replaces another whats the differece. may be pakistanis living in america love him because he might be good for their adopted country but for the country they left behind he's a bad omen. for pakistanis like me who love to stay in their own country he's just another evil american prez and we're not going to allow him to use us or our land for his selfish endeavors.

look, when you get your basic facts right then the rest of your opinions may carry some credibility.
What change will he bring? I open this thread in Cafe because I know I will get different results here than world affairs forum. This is for the cafe people..
Do you think he's another power hungry capitalist puppet of the corporate mafia? Or is he your hero?
Bro! I know what you're saying and i totally feel you. But, i don't think the people are celebrating his election/selection because he's a "savior" or anything. Most people that i know who are happy for his victory are because of two basic reason; 1. Because they're utterly sick of Bush and Republicans and 2. Because it's a Race factor. In a positive way ofcourse. A black man becoming a president.
That's what most people are celebrating. No one expects him to rescue the Muslim world and radically change America's ways. Foreign policy will probably stay the same, but there is a hope for less confrontation worldwide and more dialogue. That is the hope that made people vote for Obama.
