Re: Obama won, so what?
Personally, I find myself relatively indifferent towards Obama’s victory.
On the one hand, I am really happy to witness a historical moment - an achievement in its own right on a social front… nothing can take away the significance of racial progress that has been made to get to this point. Hence, coupled with my delight along this front, I want to congratulate him and wish him Good Luck!
At the same time, I’m not sure of what to expect of him once he assumes office. Can he live up to his promises… he hasn’t delivered just yet. In the long-term, only time will tell how he fares as the President of a country with diminished domestic pride and worldwide respect as of recent years. There are a lot of social, economic and energy issues to contend with domestically and a fairly challenging foreign relations landscape. Overall, Obama has a hard row to hoe and I hope, for the sake of the world, he is up to it.
