November 4, 2008. In Dixville Notch, Obama defeated John McCain by a count of 15 to 6. Hart’s Location reported 17 votes for Obama, 10 for McCain and two for write-in candidate Ron Paul. Independent Ralph Nader was on both towns’ ballots but got no votes · Voting polls weren’t even open when Dixville Notch and Hart’s Location announced their results. For 60 years, the two small villages in New Hampshire have been observing a tradition of having the first Election Day ballots.
An appeal to fear incites a weakest alter ego that lives within us, creates a necessity to hide behind a macho man that would protects us against all odds, it also creates a friction among the masses on the basis of race, culture and religion. An appeal to hope incites a willingness to feel positive about things, to look at the world with an insight which in not only diversified but fresh too.
Obama is proponent of hope; McCain invokes fear and would thrive on its strong manifestation at the polls.
Conviction of the masses hangs in balance amidst the fog of uncertainty to the fairness of the electoral process; history can repeat itself as far as hacking of the democracy is concerned.
