“The choice is not between Musharraf and Islamic extremists. As the recent legislative elections showed, there is a moderate majority of Pakistanis, and they are the people we need on our side to win the war against al Qaeda. That is why we should dramatically increase our support for the Pakistani people – for education, economic development, and democratic institutions. That child in Pakistan must know that we want a better life for him, that America is on his side, and that his interest in opportunity is our interest as well. That’s the promise that America must stand for.”

And I couldn’t agree more.

Thats a really intelligent statement.
Re: Obama (on Pakistan) said
He said some other things too, like if there is “actionable intelligence” US should enter Pakistan going after the terrorists. :nono:

Re: Obama (on Pakistan) said
there is no connection ever anywhere between what a politician says and does
Re: Obama (on Pakistan) said
If got elected (looks harder now) will be the first US president to call Pakistan as a Pakistani would do. :D Litterally, I watched his interview on Larry King and he called Pakistan like us.

Yeah his pronounciation of Pakistan is similar to a guy living in Laloo Khet!

Captain, I don't think obama's statement abt going in with actionable intelligence and the new one abt aiding the poor Pakis are incompatible or mutually exclusive.
I think there has been a general misinterpretation of the former as some sort of affront on pakistan sovereignty which I don't think was there. Matter of fact, sans outright physical occupation of the viceregal throne in Islamabad, further loss of sovereignty is impossible.
That said, I do think obama is a dangerous candidate for a lot of other reasons; so is Clinton.
Re: Obama (on Pakistan) said
yeah..right after we bomb "that child's" house, we'll tell him we are actually on his side. Simple, effective, fast.
Re: Obama (on Pakistan) said
Obama was supposed to bring change. But lately the whole world has seen that he belongs to a church that promotes racism and anarchy pretty much comparable to Qaida goons.
Knowing what obama stands for and associates with, even American don't care anymore as to what he has to say.
And if American don't give a hoot to Obama's statements, why do people in Pakistan have to worry about this racist clan that Obama belongs to.

Isn't that sad! The problem is that the Al Qaeda and othe other jihadis seem to be comfortably hosted and living in these houses. Shouldn't the grown ups in the house realize that they are putting their children in the front line when they host the jihadis?
Or if the jihadis are taking over these houses by forc, then where is your government and military that should cleanse these places? Perhaps some of them are too busy working with them?
That said, much of this could have been avoided if we had a president with some sense of fair play and brains but we got Dubya and co instead! Osama made sure he gave ample cause to these neocon apes.
What a mess!
