If true, then this really is an excellent news. This could mean President Obama really wants a Kashmir solution which is the main stumbling block in good India/Pakistan relationship. Would India accept a possible Bill Clinton role if it comes to fruition?
Obama mulling appointing Bill Clinton as special **envoy on Kashmir
**New US President-elect Barack Obama has hinted at appointing his partyman and former president Bill Clinton as a special envoy on Jammu and Kashmir , saying he had an experience of dealing with the problems in the Indian subcontinent. Obama reportedly said this in an interview with Time magazine. Clinton had played a role in ending the Kargil crisis in Kashmir in 1999.
While recognising that Kashmir was obviously a potential tar pit for American diplomacy, Obama remained optimistic about changing the regional dynamic.
Working with Pakistan and India to try to resolve the Kashmir crisis in a serious way was one of the most critical tasks for my administration, the Daily Times quoted Obama as saying in the interview.
Calling Kashmir an interesting situation, Obama said he was ready to explore the option for the US to devote serious diplomatic resources to get a special envoy in there, to figure out a plausible approach.
Earlier, during his last phase of poll campaign last week, Obama had said that if he won the election he would like to play a role in mediating between India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue. His statement had evoked a strong response from the Kashmiris saying it was an unwanted interference in the Kashmir issue.

So they resolve the Kashmir issue which will then make believe that Pakistanis don't need nukes no more, remove the ISI, break the country into pieces.. it's all planned.

Indians will not accept anything on Kashmir issue be it Bill Clinton or Hillary Clinton. I think its just coz Hillary wants Bill travelling with her every where, trying to evade another monica lewinsky

So you dont want it to be resolved. Pakistan existence is based on its position on Kashmir.

Osama is born to a muslim, an ex-muslim and cousins who are muslims- he sure has sympathy for suffering Kashmiri muslims. I know what's going to happen once he assumes power- he will get a first hand report on Kashmir by Bill who will say Kashmiris are supressed by the Indians. Obama will send fighter jets to bomb Indian positions in Kashmir, force Indians to accept non-muslims from Leh, Laddakh, Jammu and remaining Hindus in the valley to repatriate them somewhere in India and finally merge Kashmir with Pakistan. Inshallah. I hope mine is not a wishful thinking :(

Punjabee in USA bhaijan. I am sure Pakistan will agree with what Kashmiris decide. Only way to test is to let Kashmiris decide and we will know the answer? I believe the reason India does not want Kahmiris to decide is because the kashmir solution will mean that it will expose India's secular status which it is based on, and will also lead to separation of other states. Hence, Kashmir is termed by India's 'atoot ang'.
One thing that has been flouted around is a Northern Ireland type of solution for Kashmir. I believe that is one of the reasons US is looking to appoint an envoy for Kashmir, and help India, Pakistan and Kahmiri people reach some sort of a solution. If we put aside India's 'attotang' argument aside for the moment, I believe this will be a reasonable solution for all sides. What do you think?

Actually Pakistan will agree. Why? Because it has been our policy for 60 years. We have always said we will agree with whatever the Kashmiri People decide.
The reason why the Indian government doesn't want it - is because they know they will lose and more importantly it will give the 17 other independence movements more desire to revolt. Losing Kashmir means the disintegration of the Indian state.

Yes, USA does care about Pakistan and peace. Indians do not want peace, hence they are rejecting third party involvement.For India, Kashmir solution will mean that it will expose India's secular status as false, and will also lead to separation of other states. My friend aren't you being too optimistic, what if some kinda poles were held and even if result will be in favor of India, Pakistan will end up saying the poles weren't conducted fairly.:) They are adamant!

What made you believe that Kasmiri Muslims would want to go to a falling state which supports terrorism? A country which doesn't keep humanism over religion would be the last choice to go for a sane man! Pakistan is going to loose this last hope also!
