Meanwhile, audio has emerged of President Barack Obama calling West a “jackass” in an off-the-cuff remark.

Booed on stage

A reporter was heard asking Obama whether his children had been upset by West’s behaviour.

“I thought it was inappropriate, it’s like she’s getting an award, why are you butting in” he said.

“The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person, she’s getting her award, what’s he doing up there”

Responding to a reporter who asked why West had hijacked the stage, Obama said: “He’s a jackass.”

Speaking on the US chat show The View, Swift admitted West’s behaviour had “rattled” her.

“I had to perform live five minutes later, so I had to get myself back to the place where I could perform,” she said.

West, who was booed every time he appeared on stage after the incident, wrote on his blog afterwards about how sorry he was to have ruined Swift’s big moment.
