^ I think Pakistan can go on without American Support (just like we did in 90s upto 2002) and on the other hand I also think that AMREEKA has learned the lesson by completely cutting ties with Pakistan in 90s and its too hard for them to repeat the act now. A restriction here, an aid there will go on for a long time IMO

Musharraf's office is in Pindi (or was, dunno if hes quit it since he took the uni off), and democrats have rumbled about possibly attacking Pakistan. you say you hope democrats continue opposing Musharraf, isnt the most extreme (and hopefully unrealistic) form of that the bombing of Pindi/Islamabad?

This isnt pre-9/11 anymore, right now Pakistan is a hot issue in their foriegn policy. 1999-2001 with the nukes and with where obl is thought to be hiding, Musharraf had alot of credibility amongst the population and didnt have these crooked politicians. With massive unpopularity, two things were holding him as the president of Pakistan, the US and to some extend the military. Well, the military he had to say goodbye too, under republican pessure (Bush: Take off your uniform), and now the republicans might not be there for him, if i.e. they lose. Quite simple.

What does spock think will happen if Americans (democrats or republicans) get tough with pakistan? Sanctions followed by bombings which will be concentrated in the heartland of the army. The heartland of the army is not in dadu or lasbela last I checked.

Some of the easy and time tested ways are to get votes in Pakistan are:
- Talk of Sindhi and Punjabi Wazeer-e-Aazam (PPP/BB)
- Talk of Jagh Punjabi Jagh Tairee Pugh nu lagh gaya dagh (PML/NS)
- Talk of Establishment and their badmishiaan (MQM//AH)
- Talk of Amreeka Badmash (All Mullahs)
- Talk of Kala Bagh Dam (ANP)
- Talk of Non Sindhi aabad Kaars (PML/Q)
and I can go on and on ..... Does that mean that non of the party can win the free and fair election?
