Obaigi

How is it?

Obaigi

I bought my treteonin cream from there but that's all.

Re: Obaigi

It's ok. Not as great as they make it sound. Plus one or more of the products contains hydroquinone which shouldn't be used long term.

Re: Obaigi

And how is it? What do you use it for? :)

Glad you mentioned hydroguione, i am confused whether it is even safe to use for a short term.

Re: Obaigi

^ Safe for short term use with diligent sun protection.

I'm not sure what's so special with the Obagi products. Many of it has benzol peroxide, various AHA's, Vit. C, retinol's etc. as the active ingredient. All of that can be found MUCH cheaper and with having to pay to see a doctor.

In addition, their "blue peel" is TCA based...but made more milder! From what I read online....the doc's get the blue peel....and mix TCA with it. So the peel from Obagi (without TCA) doesn't have any active ingredients (to my knowledge so far). Heck I can do TCA at home for a fraction of the cost.

Re: Obaigi

Obagi is so popular due to hype and marketing.. You're basically paying for the brand name when you can go to a chemist and get Retin-A, Vit C etc for under a fiver each.. The blue peel like Paheli said is just TCA with a blue liquid tint added to it so the person doing it it can see where it's been applied and how it's penetrating (which you can tell anyway from the frosting if you're experienced)..

I also do the TCA peels at a fraction of the cost.. In terms of how much difference they can make to my skin (esp in just one trearment) nothing else comes close..

Obaigi

I think it's a reputable company and for someone who knows nothing about skincare and peels etc etc and isn't willing to do the research then it's good. You know your in safe hands. As in your less likely to damage your skin than you are if you bought something from an unknown or less known company. So the strength of there creams are likely to be as they say they are as I feel some companies are not always as truthful.

Re: Obaigi

Just to clarify, I'm NOT saying that this is a "bad" company. I'm sure their products get the job done. And I completely agree that if someone doesn't have the time or the interest to do research on their own, and has the money to spend on designer skin care....then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

But if someone out there thinks that they MUST spend hundreads of dollars(upto thousands depending on how often you're seeing M.D.) in order to have good skin OR deal with acne/wrinkle etc issues....then they're wrong. And that's my point....people making an informed decision. There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone choosing Obagi (assuming they have the $$ for it) after knowing that there are cheaper options. :)
