You wouldn’t call him a mainstream poet. But he was fond of poetry and during his many Kasauti shows you could see him recite some poetry. Some of that poetry was his. There was a famous incident in which ubaidullah sold a 100 rupee bank note with Faiz ahmed faiz’s hand written poetry for some large sum. Then he later bought the same 100 Rupee bill and paid double the amount. So I’m sure he was a poet himself.
