NZ win over India

The New Zealand men’s hockey team have beaten India 3-2 in Dunedin today in the first international of a four-test series.

New Zealand was up 2-nil at the break after Auckland midfielder Ryan Archibald struck twice – once in the game’s fourth minute and once on the stroke of half-time.

India came back in the second spell with goals from Daljit Dhillon nine minutes into the half and captain Baljit Sing right on full time – both goals the result of penalty corners.

New Zealand’s third goal came from midfielder Simon Towns who broke away in the 62nd minute.

The teams meet again in Ashburton on Monday.
