It started off at 9 AM in Stated Island.
I waited at the 3 mile point in Bklyn to wave and cheer them on
First came the disabled ppl. It was truly inspiring to see their sportsmanship despite their handicap :k:

Look at the mess the runners made. Yet, four hours later, the streets were swept absolutely clean!

Hey not a bad idea to run next year, but you better start practicing already. its not easy to run 26 miles. But inshaAllah one day i want to run marathon too. Dont care if i finish it in 8 hours.

P.S: It's nice. Seems fun. If I was still in track (or in shape), I would have been able to run half of this marathon or one third of it. How long was it? 26 Miles, right?

Interestingly, the elite runners were mostly black. However, the majority of the runners in the marathon were white. I really admire the way Americans encourage excellence in all spheres, not just the academic ones. We should take a page out of their book. There were a few desi participants though, I saw like 6 and cheered madly for them

26 miles? (faints) -- I know, after seeing those handicaped ppl, the words 'drop dead' are higly applied to me. How abt we turn this in to a relay, I do the first 5-10 miles and then pass the baton to you to finish off with a grt ending? tell me if you are still up for it?

Yeah, I think we should. But I don't blame desi's. I mean technically, it isn't our fault because we aren't just encouaraged to participate in sports like kids are in USA or just don't have the access to all the facilities.
And only 6 desi's among all those ppl? (Well, hats off to them!) But desi's in USA are just plain lazy (well, some!) -- And I think I just proved that up there. :D
