I had a dream about starting this thread so hear it goes:
Yesterday I went to get a haircut. My hair was long, very long. I’ve always had long hair and lately for some reason was getting very sick of it. At the same time I was so used to having long hair, I couldn’t go short either. Anyway so I went to Roy Teeluck’s salon. Before going further I just have to point put I have been to a few other big name hair salons in NYC before. This place was just amazing. The guy I made the appt with ( who had all rave reviews online) was phenomenal. Their team covered the academy awards last yr and they do a lot of the fashion shows in NYC.
While he was cutting my hair I couldn’t help but think this is the first time I’ve been to a REAL hair stylist. My hair was all the way down to the bottom of my back, now it comes to above my elbows. He took off about 8 inches. Gave me angels, layers all over and side swept bangs which I thought would look horrendous on my round face. Then he styled the hair. I have never seen a more perfect cut, everything is so well proportioned. I’m just in awe. It’s well worth what u pay. Infact I think they should be charging more, atleast for the stylist I had.
That’s all. Just had to give a rave review and maybe guppies in the NYC area would wanna try it out.
No I wasn’t gonna dish out for Roy himself. haha. I went to a senior stylist, Ali. He has amazing reviews on citysearch and some other sites. and I’m positive they are all just as good even the regular stylists. I’m sure that Roy Teeluck gives them tips or classes or something! Unfortunately I didn’t get to see another haircut or color there.
Its such a hassle finding a good hair salon, i tell ya. all the places around here are dominican salons and they do a shiat job on my hair. and the salons in city are way too spensive. :(
sumorani hope you dont mind me sharing this here but for the benefit of Sara and others in NYC area, if you go to salonapprentice.com and look under NYC, you can find apprentices looking for hair style or color models for a minimal fee. You can get a great color or cut for the same or even lesser price you would pay at a lesser salon but the service would be superb and at a reputable salon at that. My sister and i have used the site to get services in Chicago and have always been pleased with results (i am talking about highlights, hair cuts, japanese straightening done for a very small fraction of the price you would pay elsewhere). Worth a try i say.
^that's pretty interesting. The place I went has completly free haircuts on Wednesdays if u get cut 10 inches or more off because they donate to locks of love. But the stylist doesn't style ur hair then. Still I think it's a pretty good deal. I have a friend who's taking classes at aveda institute they so free cuts, straightening, deep conditioning, etc every Saturday but u have to know the person to get in.
