NY Bar Exam

Has anyone here taken the NY Bar Exam?

How did you find it?

And what did you do once you had passed it, career wise?

Re: NY Bar Exam

Unfortunately I have not taken the bar exam but will try to help you. I had a cousin who took the NYS bar after graduating from Columbia Law. From what I remember it was a tough exam and she studied day and night for 4 months.

If you have attended Law school in New York State, your school should be able to provide stats on pass rates, additional study resources, and you might want to form a study group with your fellow Law school grads. I remember that year she had mentioned that Columbia had a pass rate in the 80s percentile which was lower than NYU.

As for the career progression, it is an absolute necessity if you are looking to open your own practice or work at some of the more prominent law firms. My cousin worked for a few years in Corporate Law before shifting to California where she is a partner in a entertainment law firm. Of course she had to pass the California bar as well.

Kurri, don’t worry too much about the test, just start studying. As you go along prepping your confidence will increase and you should be able to do well on the exam. All the best J
