Nursing

My question is specific to nurses in Pakistan. I personally always respected the profession and my khala was a proud nurse herself. This is a more general question about the attitudes toward the profession. In the past it was considered to be a profession only slightly better than that of a house maid. Don?t want to go into details but I think people familiar with the work environment will understand. But now there are degree programs, masters and even PhDs in nursing. So I?m wondering if the perception of society toward average nurses improved? Are middle class people living in Pakistan willing to send their daughters to nursing schools or the urban legends still haunt?

Its a good question. The other day Yahoo finance wrote a article mentioning Nursing as the most lucrative and rapidly progressing career. And that this is the best time to go for this. However as you mentioned in Pak it can be altogether different.

I think Aga Khan upgraded the level of nursing to a great extent. I remember years back they had a top class nursing school which was producing best graduates. But again we dont know how middle class is accepting it.

I think the govt should provide them the facility to up grades their degree ...
