How long are you supposed to breastfeed the baby in one sitting? How can I know that my baby is satisfied?

Try to get the baby to nurse at least 15-20 minutes on the first side, and then at least 5-10 on the second side.
It’s tough with a newborn. It’s hard for them to figure out how to latch. They get tired quickly too. Be patient. It takes a couple weeks for mom and baby to figure it out.

Every baby is different, like S02 said. Appx 15 minutes on the first side is normal, and then 5-10 on the second. The next time you nurse, start with the other side first, so that your supply/milk production stays even on both. In the beginning, you will be nursing more frequently, for less intervals, as this is what establishes your milk supply.
It may feel like baby is not getting enough, or is still hungry, but remember, bm digests much faster than formula, so your baby will want to feed more frequently.
