Hey,
Do we have any canadian nurses here? Anyone who lives in Canada can tell me the scope of nursing there and job outlook etc. I could’ve posted this in career section but that section is completely dead.
I’m in the USA studying to be a nurse and soon will be moved to Canada after shaadi
so wanted to know if the job outlook in the Canada is as same as the USA.
Any reply related to the topic will be GRATELY APPRECIATED!
Re: Nurses in Canada
from the conversations of the nurses that i volunteered with, i got the impression that if you move towards the west, aka alberta, BC, there is definitely more scope for you compared to the eastern provinces such as Ontario. The current situation of medicine related jobs is terrible in Ontario, and who knows it might improve, but going to the west is the best bet. but, compared to that, US is still the king
Re: Nurses in Canada
^ agreed... it's a little more difficult to get settled as a RN in Ontario than some of the other provinces. That being said, I read somewhere that even in Ontario, a 25 - 30% gap is projected in the demand and supply for nurses by the year 2010.
Nothing though beats the prospects of Nursing in the USA - primarily due to the different structure of health care provision in the two countries.
Re: Nurses in Canada
My mom's a nurse here in Ontario. If you want to work through an agency, there's plenty of nursing opportunities; however, for the hospital to hire you it is a different thing. It's a nice amount of salary too $60 000 annually :O to starters if the hospital hires you and it only goes up :DJust like everyone above said Alberta's a booming city!! There's loads of scope there.
