Numira hoists Pakistan’s flag at South Pole

LAHORE: Numira Saleem, a Pakistani woman, hoisted the country’s flag at the South Pole on Wednesday, Samma TV reported. According to the TV channel, Numira Saleem hoisted the Pakistani flag at the North Pole last Saturday, and there she had announced that she would also hoist her country’s flag at the South Pole.
Space flight: Based in Southern France, Saleem is undergoing training in the United States for a space flight scheduled within the next couple of years, according to the channel.
The channel quoted her as saying that it was a great honour to represent her country as the first Pakistani citizen at the North and South Pole during the International Polar Year that marks the challenge of climate change our planet is facing.
