This thread is purely for knowledge sharing for auto enthusiasts.
I was wondering for some cars how they name their cars with numbers. Almost all of the Luxury brands (except Lincoln, which is going to follow this method from this year for marketing its brand name better) and some pickup/loading trucks have numeric naming convention. I know some of them, but was wondering on others. If you know for particular brands please come forward with definition/explaination.
As BMW has [series][engine size] [type] convention for Sedans, M[series] for muscle cars and X[series] for SUVs. For example:
325i
530xi
740i
328ci
M5
X3
And so on.
Benz has S series, M series and CLK/SLK etc etc.
Ford 150/250/350 are very famous pick up trucks. What does that represent? Same with GMC and Dodge trucks.
Others are Infiniti, Lexus, Cadillac etc. I know Acura very well.
