Does anyone know when it became popular to wear more than a single pair of earrings? I’ve seen people sporting that since I was a kid, so I’m sure it began before I was even born. I’ve just always wondered what the thinking behind it is. Are people not able to choose just one pair to wear that day, or does it really just look “better”? And if it does look better, is there a happy medium, then a point where it’s like “No, that’s just too many”?

Do you mean multiple piercings? My dadi had multiple piercings and would wear multiple pairs of earings at the same time, and she was born sometime early 1900's. So it's not entirely a super new trend. I wanted to get cartilage piercing but then changed my mind when I learnt that my dadi had it. Somehow the coolness factor just went out of it because of that piece of information =/
