Re: number 13, its significance in islamic culture
ok forget about the christian aspect of it.don't relate the topic of that thread with this one. the two have nothing to do with each other. let me not relate it to religion then and edit my first post
why is number 13 considered unlucky in some cultures
some buildings don't have a 13th floor they go right from 12th to 14th, some hotels don't have a room 13. airplanes don't have a row 13
friday the 13th is a bad luck day,Some Christian traditions have it that at the Last Supper, Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus, was the 13th to sit at the table.
i'm not superstitious but i'm not against it either.

Although Muhammad PBUH use to fast middle of the month during the odd dates according to Islamic calendar.
Re: number 13, its significance in islamic culture
like in japan, words 4 and 9 are considered unlucky numbers, the number four is avoided in most cases because Four is pronounced "shi" which is the same pronunciation as death. Nine is pronounced "ku" which has the same pronunciation as agony or torture.
Re: number 13, its significance in islamic culture

When I don’t find an Islamic source for a superstition, I guess that’s all that it is, superstition.
Tracing the history and reading about how it’s viewed in various cultures is interesting though. Just a few of the many links:
