Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

The American administration under President Bush has submitted to US Congress the proposal for amending the American laws that will have to be modified to permit the civilian nuclear cooperation with India to go forward. Passage is not going to be easy.

What are the prospects for such approval? Would it be passed by US Congress?

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

I hope Congress will approve the deal and make sure Bharatis open up "ALL" of their facilties to American inspections. This is the ultimate vision of the Bush adminsteration.

If the deal is rejected, Bharat will end up just like Iranians.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Antiobl, Read something about the deal before making comments.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

As long as India doesn't end up like your country we're better of.

As to the nuke deal passing, I think the chances are quite weak. Bush doesn't have too much influence anymore.

But India will get what we want from other countries if US doesn't oblige.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Since its not coming out following is the corner stone of deal..
India opens up Civilian Nuclear Installation for inspection. India keeps the right to decide which one is Civilian and which one is Defence Nuclear Installation. That is current as well as in Future.
Whole world is stunned by US giving up NPT for this deal. So India bashers on this thread, sometimes you let go... when things have gone so well for India...

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

hahah! So now the great state of Bihar has surpassed the whole Pakistan in the level of prosperity and affluence?

Cmon' Curmuge, Bharat is still a dirt poor $hite whole that millions are trying to get out of.

Sure we see bunch of activity in Banglore for the Eye-T Shie-T, and few clerks handling office calls for Dell. However this is nothing much to bring home if you still have to compare yourself to a country that is 10 times smaller.

China bows to America and brings home hundreds of billions of $$.
Bharat bows to American and gets 30 billions. Yet China and Bharat are of same population numbers and comparable sizes.

Coming back to the topic, there is nothing wrong with US helping Bharat come out of the nukie closet. US sends new cameras, and Bharat opens up it's plants to US inspections. It is afterall a win win deal for both Bharat and the US.

Oh wait, US is signing this deal only for the benefit of Bharat. Yeah Right!

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

There is the primary reason why you are so backward..you compare yourself to the most backward state in India and set your ambitions based on that....why not read up and aspire on the other states? you may improve your lot a bit.

watch out you $****epot! don't you call my country names such as that unless you are #shyte. People try to go abroad for opportunity. And we wouldn't have to do that but for the brits and colonials that lost us the industrial revolution. Now we have made up a lot of ground in just 60 years to the point where the world is coming to us. So stop the bs you shythead! (mods, I realize I called this guy names that I normally worldn't call anyone but he deserves it....if anyone calls my country names I will not tolerate it and they will get it back with interest)

China and India bow to America? did you get dropped in the hospital? It's called trade busto. we export goods and services and import whatever we import. Unlike your country which is frontline state.

Why are you tilting at windmills? even your friends in Bihar fully understand the deal is for mutual benefits and based on lot of assumptions and hopes. But the point has been made whether the deal goes thru or not. India pride has been assuaged.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Truth hurts Baboo Raam! You say "people try to go abroad for opportunity...". You probably don't even know why?

Simple Baboo! They "lack the very opportunities" at home in $hite-hole called
Bharat.

NuKlar cooperation is nothing but the selling of the last bit of Bharati jewels to Americans. Just to put down Pakistan? hahaha! Oh Baboo Raam! sometimes it is not good to hurt your cousins across the border. You may get hurt much more in the process.

Time to respect Pakistan Oh Baboo Raam! This way you may get some respect and in the process save your family jewels from those Americans.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Atiobl, you have given some good posts to this forum. Though on this issue you are totally out of synch as well you haven't read about this at all...
Like every thing in life this deal also have two sides of coin... but Pakistan balatantly asked for similar deal, and was refused. Many in world are stunned with America bending backwards for this deal..

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

That was my whole point. Thanks for accepting it.

That's gonna happen baby! On every corner, twist, or whatever have you, both Bharat and Pakistan will ask for "similar deal" rather blatantly. I blame the baboos sitting Dilli as well as in Islamabad. They ought to quit behaving like little kids clamoring to get some lolly-pops from the big Uncle.

I mean who could forget so many examples of Bharatis doing the belly dance.

  1. Bharatis burned with angst when Pakistan was declared "Major Non-Nato Ally".

  2. Bharatis twisted their little tongues when Pakistan was promised military hardware especially those little nasty fighter planes.

  3. Bharatis cried when USA scuttled the Israeli-AWACS deal.

Here is the big one (drum-roll).

  1. Bharatis were so balatant and $tupid about the geography, that they offered bases, and their drawing rooms after 9/11. Even a beginner student of military art could tell that Afghanistan could only be attacked if Pakistan allowed US forces to get through. Still Bharatis in a show of one-upman-ship cried with desperation.

I mean that's the hight of $tupidity of Dilli to jump up and down for providing bases to USA. This matter that was so serious and still they were saying me-me me-me me-me.

So Rahul Bhai, I guess you got the point. If not, I'd forgive you, as you have to be a blind nationalist just like so many other Bharatis on this forum.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

you fookedup $shythead - listen carefully cos I'll say it only once. insulting India simply shows your impotence and inferiority complex.

India is the land of opportunties that the world is turning towards. your envy is preventing you from admitting it. too bad.

Keep this up and in a few years you will pay someone to smuggle you into India to work as an illegal immigrant there :)

Bush’s India Plans at Risk

Opposition grows to the idea of forging a nuclear alliance with the Asian power. Some in Congress fear the major policy shift could boost Iran.

.. lawmakers fear the accord would unravel international agreements designed to halt the spread of nuclear weapons, and encourage the nuclear ambitions of countries such as Iran.

Despite pressure from senior administration officials and personal lobbying by Bush, key Republicans remain on the fence. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee has been largely silent on the proposed legislation, and Rep. Henry J. Hyde of Illinois, chairman of the House International Relations Committee, is uncommitted.

The White House faces months of delay, if not outright defeat.

Opposition has also grown among some Indians, who fear the deal would compromise their nation’s independence, and among the 45 members of an organization of countries that control the global nuclear trade. The White House wants the group to bless the deal before it proceeds.

Lawmakers focused on a better U.S.-India relationship tend to favor the accord. But those concerned about nuclear proliferation think the U.S. is giving away too much. They fear the deal would encourage China, for example, to cooperate more closely with Pakistan and Russia to expand its aid to Iran’s nuclear program.

The administration hoped the Nuclear Suppliers Group would declare support for the agreement at a meeting this month. But some smaller members, including Sweden and Switzerland, oppose the deal, and larger countries have serious questions. Months of delay are likely there too.

Because the trade group operates by consensus, U.S. officials may ultimately have to decide whether they want to proceed with the deal without the group’s blessing, thus weakening an organization the United States created in hopes of restraining global nuclear trade.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

India and China bows to US?
Wierd coz the last time I checked China was the biggest threat to the US economy. The US need an Ally in Asia and its looking at India for support. It was Bush who camr to India for nuclear cooperation and not the other way round.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Janab, prior to speaking on something, it is imperative that you be knowledgable. The AWACS you speak of, called Phalcon, was sold to India two years ago. It was China that was not allowed to buy. This is the reason Musharaff is getting his panties in a knot and buying second rate Swedish equipment. The deal that Pakistan got does not even transfer the technology, where as the dela with Israel and India transfers technology. Moreover, Pakistan is mounting it on used SAAB turbo-prop aircraft, hardly a force multiplier, and it has very limited capability. I understand your desire, but making up falsehoods is hardly becoming.

Second, Non-Nato ally is only for Pakistani consumption. What has this really gotten Pakistan? The US operates at will within Pakistani terrotories, no real weapon systems to speak of. No transfer of technology. Now according to most analysts, the Pakistani nuclear program is hawk eyed by the Americans. Even the 3 billion promised has yet to be delivered. Indians don't really care, because there is nothing to care about.

As for the fighters, we all know how that went.

The less we say about Pakistani participation in the war on terror the better. By the way, I heard virtually all the Democratic contenders for the US presidency saying that Pakistan is supporting terrorism and that the 3 billion needs to be reconsidered. What do you think the Non-Nato Ally status will mean then?

The nuclear deal between India and the US is beneficial to both parties. Pakistanis just have a sour grapes complex. If nothing else, it will buffer India from the need to rely on unstable countries for energy.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Wrong. Did you forget how it was Manmohan Singh who went to America first in July 2005, when this nuclear deal was first agreed in principle. Since that time India has started toeing the American line against Iran, and agreeing to all it’s demands for access to the Indian nuclear programme.

This is what I posted back in February, about Condi Rice in effect warning India of the painful concessions it would have to make to America.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

:rotfl: :rotfl: ..ok ok..now that i have controlled my laughter..listen u indian masaladosay..the only reason one might get “smuggled” to india is to see one of your “bharti naris” wed dogs, snakes etc. Too bad those naris would be burned after their “suhaag” dog and snakes die.

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

Its not nuclear corperation but PROLIFERATION... Read NPT.... But wait, NPT is as good as dead so carry on...

Re: Nuclear cooperation between US and India.

India should NEVER be given a security council seat
