NS's attempt to lure the youth

He is announcing six schemes specifically for the youth today, lets see what impact that has. Secondly as per the news Bilawal might join active politics soon. It would be interesting to see the leanings of youth in the next elections.

Nawaz Sharif to announce six schemes for youth | PAKISTAN - geo.tv

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

Loans, loans and loans and of course lollipop., errr I mean laptops.

Only program I appreciate is skills development. Rest of the schemes will be waste of money. Small business can rejuvenate an economy but without a vision or education or skills, these loans will be wasted.

but lure will be successful with laptops in areas like sindh & balochistan.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

Love the title of this thread.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

No 3G or country wide Broadband connectivity, this laptop economy can only suffer.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

Only idiots would ask for 3G. We need 4G so people can watch even more porn.

Re: NS’s attempt to lure the youth

Why so much obsessed with porn :smack:

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

Shouldn't 4G be easy to roll out in Pakistan since LTE is a GSM technology? This is why AT&T was able to roll it out first than Verizon or the thakka huwa Sprint PCS.

Re: NS’s attempt to lure the youth

It seems like a good initiative but the overall impact will be minimal

Money available for loan = Rs. 3 Arab or 3,000,000,000

Minimum loan amount = 500,000 (Rs 5 lac)
Maximum loan amount = 2,000,000 (Rs 20 lac)

Assuming:
everyone gets 500,000 loan, the number of people who will benefit = 3,000,000,000/500,000 = 6000 People
everyone gets 2,000,000 loan, the number of people who will benefit = 1500

Around 1 million or 10 lac people enter the job market every year. So the impact would be 0.6%/year (6000/1000000)**!!!
**

I guess something is better than nothing.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

LTE is not GSM, completely different technology.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

Waste of money.

Besides all of it will probably go to Punjab.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

This seems like another half baked scheme which will have minimal impact.

Point!

Very famous Chines proverb " Don't give them a fish, tell them how to catch the fish", but PMLN is throwing fish towards youth, just to shut them up, what a shame......bloody vision less government, instead giving them loans (which will be taken back with interest) government should invest that money into different business and create job opportunities for all. Providing short term solution to this gigantic problem doesn't make sense, I am sure we will be witnessing loads loads of corruption, favoritism and cronyism.

Re: NS’s attempt to lure the youth

This link says that LTE is backwards compatible with GSM. Of course, the technology that we use now is not truly GSM like there is no CDMA anymore but more refined types of spectrums and technologies based on that principle. There is a reason that AT&T deployed it first before Verizon also decided to join the LTE so it has become the 4G standard. LTE | About Us

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

LTE is backwards compatible with GSM as well as CDMA. It would make sense now to go to LTE/4G instead of 3G.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

This could prove to be another "peeli taxi" project. Lets see what impact this makes on ordinary people, as its expected that many more would lose their jobs in the coming months.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

I am surprised Pakistan doesn't have 3G because cell phone coverage, at least in big areas, is decent and actually better than land lines from what I hear. HSPA+ (3G "turbo") is pretty fast in itself. But yeah, Pakistan should just skip it altogether and go to LTE. The country isn't that huge so covering it shouldn't be a problem like America.

Re: NS’s attempt to lure the youth

Complexity in how CDMA was deployed in Verizon probably caused delays in joining LTE bandwagon, otherwise LTE is entirely different technology from CDMA/GSM. GSM network probably was easier in terms of integration with LTE but this does not mean LTE is a GSM technology.

Re: NS's attempt to lure the youth

Ready made files for these loans will be sold at certain %age of the loan amount. Like they always do with these small business and what not loans.Back in 90s under NS govt. i remember file for PKR50,000 loan was going for PKR 10,000.

yes yes we will have 3G,4G LTE once any friend of sharifs shows some interest.
