Zardari tops list of NRO beneficiaries

ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistan Saturday released the list of the beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation Ordinance on the directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

State Minister for Law Afzal Sindhu in a news conference here said that a total of 8041 people including 34 politicians, bureaucrats and three ambassadors took benefit from the ordinance.

On top of the list is the name of President Asif Ali Zardari while his several close associates, both political and bureaucratic, including Rehman Malik, Salman Farooqi and his brother Usman Farooqi and Hussain Haqqani are also included, he said.

The list, which also reflects a brief introduction of the cases dropped against each name under the NRO, also includes the name of serving and former ministers, federal and provincial secretaries, ex-chief secretaries, existing or former members of the national and provincial assemblies and others, he added.

The politicians that benefited from the ordinance include Nawaz Yousaf Talpur, Ex-MNA and former minister, Nusrat Bhutto, Ex-MNA and the PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badar, Ex-minister for commerce and Presently Defense Minister Ahmad Mukhtar, Ex-MNA Malik Mushtaq Ahmed Awan, Ex-MNA Rana Nazir Ahmed, Ex-MPA Mian M Rashid, Ex-MPA Tariq Anees, Ex-MPA Mian Tariq Mehmood Dina, Ex-Minister of education Sindh Agha Sirajuddin, Former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao and Ex-Provincial minister Ghani-ur-Rehman, he said.

Ex-senator Haji Gulsher, Ex-Provincial Minister Habibullah Khan Kundi, Ex-MNA Mir Baz Muhammad Khan Khethran, Ex-Federal Minister Anwar Saifullah Khan, Ex-Provincial Minister Sardar Mansoor Laghari, Ex-Mayor Sargodha Ch Abdul Hameed, Ex-chairman Zila Council Lahore Ch Shaukat Ali, Ex-MNA Haji Kabir are also included in the list.

Haji Nawaz Khokhar late, Altaf Hussain, Babar Ghouri, Farooq Sattar, Saleem Shahzad, Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad, Ch, Haji Qadeer, Malik Mushtaq Awan, Mian Muhammad Rasheed, Mian Tariq Mehmood, Shoaib Bukhari are also included in the list of Politicians who took benefit from NRO.

Amongst Government servants and others, who had benefited from NRO and got themselves cleared from NAB cases include Ex-Additional Director General FIA and Presently Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Pakistan’s Ambassador in the US Husain Haqqani, Principal Secretary to the President Suleman Farooqi, Ex-Advisor to Prime Minister A R Siddiqi, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to UK Wajid Shams-ul-Hassan, Ex DG Intelligence Bureau Brig Imtiaz, Ex-MD Printing Corporation of Pakistan Pir Mukarram.

The minister said that the number of politicians who benefited from the NRO is very few. Out of total 8041 persons who benefited from the law 7793 belong to Sindh province, he said.

“The spouse of the prime minister was not among the beneficiaries of NRO,” the state minister said. The minister said that three diplomats, including Hussain Haqqani, Wajid Shams-ul-Hasan and AR Siddiqui also benefited from the law.

Sindhu said that total 71 cases including 31 murders and 11 attempts to murder against MQM chief Altaf Hussain were withdrawn under the Ordinance.

Answering to a question, he said, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was honorably acquitted by the court.

The cases against politicians were constructed for political victimization, he said, adding that, Cases against PPP leadership were made during the period of Chief Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif for that he has regretted the act.

It was also mentioned in the charter of democracy that most of the cases were constructed to victimize political opponents, he said. Cases made during the period of former President Farooq Leghari were also based on malafide intentions, he said.

Till 28 November, 2009, NRO is protected under constitution and it will lapse after 28 November, he said. Situation will get cleared after November 28. We will accept the verdict of Supreme Court on the issue, he said.

If any beneficiary of NRO found guilty will be dealt in accordance with the law, State Minister for Sindh said this while answering to a question. “We will accept the verdict of Supreme Court with open heart. We will accept the court decision even against President. We must live in the Present,” Sindhu added.

“The article 48 of the Constitution provides amenity to the President. President is symbol of federation. We must honor the office of President,” he said.

Beneficiaries of NRO may be politicians, may be bureaucrats will be dealt according to law, he said.

“We had pressure of NRO even before elections. It was misinterpreted and people were misguided on the subject during election campaign. We contested election under NRO. I do not have any moral pressure. Pressure should be on those who constructed baseless cases,” he said.

Would Zardari resign now???

Re: NRO beneficiaries list issued

LOL

taan toti kahan
jahan har taan hai deepk

who u guys vote nxt ??

Re: NRO beneficiaries list issued

he is going to Legalize NRO , why would he Resign , an Corrupt person like him only needs a chance to do more corruption & then something to shield it ,

Every Damm person in Pakistani Politics is Corrupt , it is just that some of them get caught & some escape , and the Irony is we still vote for them.

Allah Save Pakistan , bcoz alongside Politicians people are hopeless too.

Re: NRO beneficiaries list issued

Here are some other names as well

Were officials from other provinces sleeping??? Why did they not benefit? Lazy Punjabis!

Zardari hate mafia again in action.

Only Zardari went to jail and spent 9 years perhaps because of his origin in Sindh. The other b@stards never went to jail and still enjoying their lives as ususal. NRO aimed at certain politicians and terrorists. NS is the biggest chor and corrupt person in the history of Pakistan. Since his name and others name is not in the NRO does not mean that they are parsa.

CJ should take up this issue and all responsible for corruption whether NRO or no NRO, should go to gallows or jail.

And how about the damn corrupt military officials including the one who issued NRO should be dealt? When you talk about corruption of politicans don't forget your own house. Had military generals honest in their dealings and focused on their profession, perhaps we would have not seen the mushroom of corruption we are seeing today.

I guess Military Is more Professional then the Politicians, They have always Done their word i.e. Defending Pakistan with lives , but Unfortunately Politicians failed to do so.

Since when has Pak army been a professional Army??

Pak Army does the same job as US Army, UK Army, etc, yet they believe that gives them the right to loot and help to destroy their own country so they can live in huge Defence mansions

Pakistan will never prosper as long as these corrupt Army Generals run the country

I guess you dont know what you are talking about , Pakistan Army is not that unprofessional that it will just sit back and let teh politicians destroy teh country.

I can Actually challenge you to Prove me that Political Rule was batter the Army Rule in any Term namely Economy , Development , Technology & Growth , bcoz i certainly can Prove it with Face & figures that Army rule was batter then the Political Rule in any way you want.

Democracy in Pakistan is nothing more then a curse since literacy rate is too low & peopel have no idea what is batter for them and what is not & i guess people have started to see effects of it too.

All the Major Economic , Financial , Technological Developments happened in military regime , What did Politicians gave us ??

Excellent post RD.:k:

Yes, indeed, but you forgot that its not army jobs to rule the country.

Also, generals are responsible for breaking up the country, creating jihadi monster, and every major ill that Pakistan is facing today can be traced to army rule.

And more than that, they're responsible for not letting our institutions mature, our democracy progress, and the reason we are where we are today all thanks to corrupt generals.

Yes It is not the Job of Army to Run the country , but as i said earlier Army also cannot stand by & see this country being destroyed by the Corrupt politicians, Every time Army Intervenes they had a reason & at that time ever majority of Population supports them , See in the Musharaf cse when he threw out Nawaz shrif more then 75% people were with him , even Bainzir said that Musharaf did a the best thing ,

Fom 1988 to 1999 there was no Military Involvement in the so called Democracy but what happened those were the Darkest years in the History of Pakistan , Without any military incolvement political gov changed 4 times.

I am Not against Democracy , & neither do i want to see Pak army Ruling the country i want to see them Defending the Borders, but that is when we have a leadership we can trust on, not the current leadership that only thinks of themselves

Army has ruled Pakistan 2/3rd of time. The breakup of Pakistan in 1971 was happened under Military General, when 97000 army personnel threw their arms in front of Indian General, Gagjeet Arora. Does this reverberating bell into your ears? These cowards disgraced the real heroes, whose photographs are being shown under your nick, who laid their lives in service of Pakistan.

What Pakistan is facing terrorism today is due to another General, who illegally kicked elected PM and took over the country. He was involved in fighting American war in Afghanistan which bred jehadis like Taliban and OBL, who are now biting the arses of army and public. Ultimately he and his 32 hawaris became the victim of same fraud he committed with poor Pakistani people. He destroyed the future of coming generations.

Another dictator who again kicked elected PM on the basis of corruption, legalize corruption in his nine years rule. After corrupting institutions and made millions and millions of $s issued NRO, finally hammered the last nail on the coffin of HONEST and JUST governance.

Haaa , Let me show soem facts to you that will make some sense. ok

  • Pakistan Achieved it best GDP growth rate i.e. 8.4% in 2004 which was in Army Rule
  • Pakistan's best industrial Progress in 2004 which also happened to be in Army Rule.
  • Most Development of Rods 2000-2007 which also happened to be in Army Rule
  • Pakistan' Strongest Economy was in 1961 which also happened to be in Army Rule
  • Pakistan Highest Per Capita incore i.e 1025$ which also happened to be in Army Rule.
  • highest Development in technology period 2003-2006 which also happened to be in army Rule
  • Highest Reserves 17bn$ also happened to be in Army Rule
  • Pakistan was on the 2nd Number on corruption in 1996 and in 2004 it was on 47th , which shows who was most corrupt Army or Civil.
  • Lowest inflation Rate 1981-1987 alos happened to be in Army Regime.

  • Highest Stock Market Trading i.e.13000 points was also achieved in Army Rule
  • Biggest Boom in Hisotory of Pakistan Economy was achieved in 2004 which also happened to be in Army Rule

Now above are only some points , Now i challenge you to Provide me with the achievements of Civil Gov , if you can. And if you cannot then don't bother Replying.

You seemed to be brain washed with all these lies. If what you say is correct, where were/are the benefits of these super achievements to common people? Are you preparing for another adventure like previous dictators did? You then be ready to kiss goodbye the remaining of Pakistan.

What has the list got to do with Zardari hate mafia. is zardari part of this list or not? Yes or no?

Is he not holding the highest office in pakistan. Yes or no?

Should he not be held accountable?
Just because he served nine years in jail does that absolve him of the crimes he has committed and ti also does not mean we should accept a looter and corrupt person as our president. Would he have been able to become president in any other country. how big a liability he is for PPP can be gauged from the fact that his wife kept him at a distance in dubai while she was fighting the election. Says it all.

before you go on tangent I have more sympathies for PPP than any other party in Pakistan but that does not mean i will close my eyes to wrong doings.

Pakistan comes first PPP or zardari come second.

Yes, because Mushrraf was selling Pakistanis to America for dollars. Also, don't make up stuff. Provide link to what you're talking about or no on will take you seriously here.

BTW, all Pakistani dictators had one thing in common. They were all doing American bidding & their loyalties were toward America and the American interest. Have you ever wonder why? Let me give you hint $$$$$

ehsan,

Don't be emotional. Read my post again. Zardari went to jail for nine years, none of his cases ever proved in Pakistani courts, till issue of NRO. Now tell me which other NRO benefactor has gone to jail?

I think the facts are provide are common & if you happen to have red newspaper you will know about it , now as i sadi please Provide me the facts what civil gov did , i will not even ask for a link , Just tell me what you know about the Development in civil rule.

And if you cannot please dont waste my time , i unfortunately am a busy person who has no interest in conversations where people cannot even back up their own acquisitions.
