France suspends all 23 members of its WC squad (pun intended) for the friendly against Poland.
wonder if this move is going to serve as a model for Italy and England to suspend some of their cry babies

Re: Now this takes some balls...
well thats not cool may be thats too harsh ..
Re: Now this takes some balls...
i do believe some of the 23 will eventually make it back into the squad but this sends a message..a very strong message, a needed message
Re: Now this takes some balls...
England needs to make some serious changes in their squad
Re: Now this takes some balls...
If i were in fabio's place, i would boot most of them.
^ Agreed, although Fabio should get the boot as well imo.
As for the French team, serves them right...perhaps now they'll think twice before acting like prima donnas.
Re: Now this takes some balls...
all these 23 should be exported into their rugby team and their rugby team should be imported into their soccer team.

i dont think Fabio gets the boot, the team qualified well and the level of effort that was in qualifying was not there, if the team put in some effort and got destroyed then I would say that fabio needs to go, but you can not coach a team that is just not putting in the effort.
all the hoo haa about 4-4-2 not working well once u are on the field the team could adapt and fall to a 4-5-1 or something if they chose. other pundits whining about not having gerrard in a central role behind rooney, not only was that tried but it failed miserably and at that time everyone was saying that set up will not work.
a few years ago everyone was on sven's case now its fabio, and the typical working class rags "journalists' are now all up in arms about an english manager..like bring 'arry redknapp...well when 'arry can demonstrate he can win premier league or champions league then we can talk.
then the whinging is about playing players out of position, if the german team is taken as an example one can easily see how many of their players were not playing in roles that they play at club level.
fact of the matter is that the team got into politics with gerrard and co vs terry and co, played pathetic and started blaming it on formations..
I dont think england can get a better manager than fabio right now, and having any decent level of performance is not a short term thing, there are issues with the infrastructure, technical coaching at grassroots level, etc etc.
english football needs to steal a page from the books of english cricket, for years they sucked until they realized that there are fundamental infrastructure changes that are needed, and that took time but we can see the results today.
Re: Now this takes some balls...
what about Brazilain N Argentina's Coach??
Re: Now this takes some balls...
its not that there are not better managers out there, but that they would not come to take over the england role.
btw Dunga of Brazil was removed because if you cant get to finals with that talent then dude u are in trouble. same unfortunately for Argentina, a very talented team, i dont think Maradonna is a tactical genius when it comes to managing a team, just a while ago before world cup and argentinas rocky qualifying campaign he was in hot water with his own media.
the issue is that the avg talent level of the overhyped players is well average. you dont have a linekar a gazza a macmanaman, shearer, sheringham or beckham at his prime type of players, there is only so much u can do with avg players, and especially if the avg players have nakhray and politics
Re: Now this takes some balls...
Maradona is retained as the coach ....where dunga sucked man he didnt picked ronaldinho n thats why Brazil suffered

You're totally right about the lack of effort put in by the players, they're paid so much I doubt some of them even give a sh!te that they underperformed. You definitely can't coach a team that doesn't put in 100%.
But, in England's case where you have personalities who place so much self importance on themselves...you need someone who can and is willing to kick them back to reality. I just don't think Fabio can handle the drama queens in the squad.
When the sh!t hit the fan in South Africa and things weren't going England's way (I think they assumed the group stage would be a breeze) there was no authority from Fabio. I'm not saying he isn't a good manager...I just don't think he can handle the big personalities that make up the team especially under pressure. There were times when the squad were close to pulling a stunt like the French...
That being said, I don't think many people want to take up the position of England manager...remember when Sven left and Scolari was linked? He practically ran in the opposite direction when he got hounded by the journalists. There's just too much pressure.
I can't see any major reshaping of the England squad anytime soon. But, that is what's needed for England to ever acheive anything Their salaries need to be slashed for starters...just look at how much the German squad were paid in comparison.
Re: Now this takes some balls...
actually I think fabio did take a stand on principle, but it was an issue of his discipline clashing against egos and the players basically gave him the bird, he has handled bigger personalities than these punks in his club mgmt roles.
he will handle the drama queens, they shot themselves in the foot by overdoing it, they simply did not play against algeria, the FA knows it too, and i think fabios next move will show whats to come, i just hope FA give him full backing, as it appears right now. he needs to send a message just like Blanc has done for the france 23
