Dewatering industrial pumps have been deployed to pump out án estimated 86 million gallons of water from the subway tunnels and station’s. 30 million gallons also need to be pumped out of the Queens midtown tunnel. Some of these pumps use powerful Caterpillar diesel engines and can “slurping 16500 gpm” and cost $150K.
88 year old Mr. Jim Gorman, chairman of Gorman-Rupp ( industrial pump manufacturer) has been in the business since the late 1930s. His father started the company in 1933. This gentleman has been at it for 74 years. Wow.
