Now that Eid is Over ...

kind of. With the day passed by, those who were part of slaughtering animal abroad or back home, might still have Eid around as X2 would say “Eat Mubaarak”

But as the big day came and gone, is it time to reflect upon it? Its philosophy? its importance?, its message? its demand?

Is it just a ritual? What is the essence of the symbolic ritual we perform in the name of sunnah of Ibraheem (AS)?

What lesson did we learn? What were the feelings when we prostrate in front of Allah for the Eid prayer? Supplications that we made… were there any special ones? any priority? Was it worldly or was it for life hereafter? Or was it for both?

Take a deep breath, close your eyes, think and write whatever comes to your mind in peace?

Closing eyes, thinking and relaxing…meditating…more thinking…more thinking…fallen asleep

But still thinking in dreams.:sleep2:

Re: Now that Eid is Over ...

^bohut khoob :)

Well without any generalization i believe most of the ppl who do Qurbani dont consider the "rooh" or philosophy behind this action, mostly they do either just to fulfill the custom, or to show off or just for inner satisfaction that they did what Allah told em to do without even properly understanding it.

first of all m gona start with muslims living outside of muslim countries and sacrificing here, like my bro and dad also did, they had their shares in cow in Eidhi centre and back home aswell, but they also slaughtered here in canada aswell, but alot of ppl i know only slaughtered in canada not anywhere else, so the argument i was having with em was that the philosophy behind sacrificing is to understand what Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him) did and be ready to sacrifice anything Allah wants u do, u most prolly fulfilled that part, but where does the part go where u have to donate a portion to poor??? All the meat they got from butcher went directly on to the BBQ grill as aparently there are no poor in canada, it would have been much better if they had just bought few KGs for their bbq grill and given the sacrifice money to the organizations that distribute Qurbani meat in Bangladesh, pakistan, africa and other poor places on earth. so 100% they totally missed this aspect of Qurbani.

and i also know alot of ppl in pak who do Qurban just to show off, like i was reading in Khabrain news paper about a family that "imported" 2 russian cows that costed 2 million rupees all together, and they could have bought the same size cow from pakistan for 50000 rupees, so they could buy 40 pakistani cows for 2 million rupees and distribute to so many poor ppl, orphans, and disable ppl in pakistan, but they thought its better to show off.

Re: Now that Eid is Over ...

i will daring V suppport ...Eid will remain on ..on on on ... til next eid :(

Eco first you cannot donate Qurbani ke paisay and then if they donated two parts of cow to eidhi center then they dont need to give it to more poor people.I can explain with you know if u buy a goat it should be divided into three parts one part is for yourself, then second one is family and the third one is for poor people.Suppose if your bro and dad had two parts of cow and if you can equally divide it into three parts then they gave away their 4 parts of cow to eidhi center extra which will balance the qurbani goat meat in CAnad.Just my point of view.

First of all UZ i never said to Donate qurbani ke paisey, wat i said was to give qurbani ke paisey to an organization or send it to a person who could buy the animal on ur behalf and then sacrifice it and then Donate that meat to poor, not the money, but the meat to poor. for money donation we have a diff system called Zakah.
and wat i told about my dad and bro was in context that wat they did is right, they provided sacrificed meat to poor, family and friends, so everything was fulfilled. but wat i said about few of my friends who could afford just one animal either for them or for poor ppl and they chose to feed theirselves instead of poor didn understand and fulfill the spirit of eid.
I know the Hadith u mentioned and i can also qoute the reference and context to that hadith and everything, but the point here discussed is that if u can afford one bakra, now u have to choose that u should sacrifice it here in canada and put that on ur bbq grill for urself and ur friends or u should send money to an organization that will sacrifice the bakra in somalia on ur behalf and give the meat to orphans and poor who might taste the meat after a year :) u can only divide the meat in three parts when u r living in a country like pak, where u have ur family, friends and poor, all three mentioned in hadith, but if not then opportunity cost comes in affect and u have to decide, whos more deserving, ur family who atleast eats out in a nice restaurant once a month and masha Allah always eat good or a family living in bangladesh that might not have had a nice meal in years. and if u think that then u understand the spirit of eid. u can buy 5 KGs of meat and invite friends and family on any day, doesn have to be eid.

Kuch AmeeRon ne teen teen (3) lakh k JaNwar lay kar
Hum hisay ki quRbani karne wala'oN ka UraYa hai mazak

And the sad thing is , they live with me and owe my couple of thousand euro . But to get rid of the embarrassment , they say ‘ o ji wo tu Abba huzur ne qurbani ki hai ‘ , you don’t worry about your money , you will get it soon ..

Some one should tell them

Neither their meat, nor their blood reaches God. What reaches Him is your righteousness. ( 22:37)

Then don't genralize your statement I know you knew some friends that are doing this and I know some friends here too that are doing Qurbani here too only for show off , the only thing we can do is pray for them or if we have enough ourage we can tell them what is right or wrong. But there are some good hearted people also for example like yourself who want to feed poor, and May ALLAH give hadayaa to all muslims ameen.
